How likely is every NFL stadium to host WrestleMania? An investigation
With the announcements of WrestleManias 37, 38, and 39, some users were critical of WWE selecting the same venues every year. Every WrestleMania since 23, with the exception of three in Orlando (two at the Citrus Bowl/Camping World Stadium and one at the Performance Center due to COVID-19), has been held at an NFL stadium. As something of an NFL stadium expert, I decided to examine each NFL stadium's likelihood of hosting a future WrestleMania. Please note that some stadiums are located just outside of the city limits listed, but I listed the major city most associated with it (so for instance, while AT&T Stadium is technically in Arlington, it hosts the Dallas Cowboys, so I listed Arlington.) I'm also giving WWE a significant benefit of the doubt and assuming they'd be interested in hosting a Mania outside of their usual go-tos. Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, NV
Stadium Profile: A $1.9 billion stadium opened in 2020 to house the newly-moved Las Vegas Raiders. Starting in 2021, it will host the Pro Bowl, Las Vegas Bowl, and the Pac-12 Championship Game. As of yet, it has not hosted any fans. It has a capacity of 65,000.
City Profile: Las Vegas is the 28th biggest metro area in the US. Las Vegas previously hosted WrestleMania IX in a temporary arena built at Caesars Palace, and the recently-built T-Mobile Arena hosted 2016 Money in the Bank and 2018 Elimination Chamber.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Very high. I'm honestly surprised it didn't host one of the next three Manias given its attractive location and massive new stadium. I suspect it will host one very soon in the future.
Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
Stadium Profile: Arrowhead is the third-oldest stadium in the NFL, having been built in 1972. It had a renovation completed in 2010 and seats 76,416. It's known for its incredibly-loud fans, as they currently hold the world record for loudest crowd at 142.2 decibels.
City Profile: Kansas City is the 31st biggest metro area in the US. Kansas City has hosted four PPVs, most notably 1999 Over the Edge with the death of Owen Hart and most recently 2010 Money in the Bank.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. Arrowhead's age and Kansas City being a smaller market (and not an attractive vacation destination) mean that Missouri won't be hosting WrestleMania any time soon.
AT&T Stadium, Dallas, TX
Stadium Profile: "Jerryworld", a pioneer in the billion-dollar stadium craze, opened in 2009 with a listed capacity of 80,000, though it can hold up to 100,000 for special events like WrestleMania and the Super Bowl, which it hosted in 2011. It also hosts the annual Cotton Bowl game.
City Profile: Dallas is the 4th largest metro area in the US. Dallas hosted WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium and most recently hosted 2017 Great Balls of Fire.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Confirmed, as it will host WrestleMania 38 next year. I suspect this will not be the last.
Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
Stadium Profile: A largely no-frills stadium, Bank of America Stadium was built in 1996 and has a seating capacity of 75,523. In addition to hosting the Charlotte Panthers, it will host Charlotte FC starting in 2022 and has hosted an NCAA bowl game since 2002 and the ACC Championship Game most years since 2010. Though it was renovated in 2017 (and soccer renovations are currently underway), Panthers ownership has expressed a desire for a new stadium.
City Profile: Charlotte is the 22nd biggest metro area in the US. Nearby Charlotte Coliseum hosted 2019 Clash of Champions, its first PPV in 13 years, and nearby Greensboro has been considered one of wrestling's hotbeds.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Low. If memory serves, Charlotte was floated as a potential Mania site, but unless they get a new stadium I don't see this nearly as likely as more attractive Southeast locations like Atlanta or Florida.
Bills Stadium, Buffalo, NY
Stadium Profile: The NFL's fourth-oldest stadium, the former Ralph Wilson Stadium houses 71,608. It was the site of the first NHL Winter Classic in 2008 as the Buffalo Sabres hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins.
City Profile: Buffalo is the 49th biggest metro area in the US. The last PPV Buffalo hosted was 2013 Battleground.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. With many bigger cities nearby and an aging stadium, Buffalo will never host a WrestleMania. Sorry, Bills Mafia.
Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO
Stadium Profile: Replacing the historic-but-aging Mile High Stadium in 2001, Empower Field seats 76,125. Notably, 84,000 were in attendance on the last night of the 2008 Democratic National Convention for Barack Obama's acceptance speech.
City Profile: Denver is the 19th biggest metro area in the US. The nearby Pepsi Center has only hosted one PPV - 2003 Vengeance.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. Denver's high altitude doesn't do it any favors, but WWE has been hesitant to run Denver in the past and I suspect with shinier stadiums out West, it will not do so here.
FedExField, Washington, DC (stadium located in Landover, MD)
Stadium Profile: Once the NFL's largest stadium, FedExField opened in 1997 and currently has a capacity of 82,000. Many upper-level seats were blockaded off in 2011. Even in 2007, Sports Illustrated rated it fourth-lowest in "NFL Fan Value Experience".
City Profile: Washington is the 6th biggest metro area in the US. Capital One Arena hosted 2005 SummerSlam, 2009 Survivor Series, and most recently 2016 Battleground, but also hosted the inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. A DC 'Mania might sound attractive, but FedExField's unpopularity will keep it off WWE's list. Nationals Park could be an option if WWE chooses to downsize.
FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, OH
Stadium Profile: Sitting on Lake Erie's shore, the "Factory of Sadness" opened in 1999 to host the second incarnation of the Cleveland Browns. It has a capacity of 67,431.
City Profile: Cleveland is the 34th biggest metro area in the US. It hosted Fastlane in both 2016 and 2019 and also hosted SummerSlam in 1996.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. I'm cold just thinking about late March in Cleveland.
Ford Field, Detroit, MI
Stadium Profile: Built in 2002 as a downtown replacement to the Pontiac Silverdome, Ford Field seats 65,000. It's hosted a bowl game every year since its opening and also hosted Super Bowl XL.
City Profile: Detroit is the 14th biggest metro area in the US. The Pontiac Silverdome was the site of perhaps the most famous WrestleMania (III), and Ford Field hosted WrestleMania 23 twenty years later. Detroit has also hosted several PPVs, most recently 2017 Hell in a Cell.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Low. Though WWE has run WrestleMania in Detroit twice in the past, that it has not done so in nearly 20 years seems to indicate it's looking at newer stadiums and more attractive locations.
Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA
Stadium Profile: Wedged between Boston and Providence, Gillette Stadium was built in 2002 as a replacement to the aging Foxboro Stadium. It seats 65,878 and hosts the New England Patriots as well as the MLS's New England Revolution.
City Profile: Boston is the 11th largest metro area in the US. The FleetCenter, now TD Garden, hosted WrestleMania XIV and has hosted several other Big 4 PPVs. It last hosted 2017 Clash of Champions.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. An indoor Boston stadium might be more attractive, but the cold weather serves as a major detriment, especially with NYC nearby.
Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL
Stadium Profile: Opened in 1987, the stadium with 11 different names seats 65,326. It's home to the Miami Dolphins, University of Miami football team, and the Orange Bowl game and formerly housed the Florida Marlins baseball team. Amid deterioration, it underwent a massive overhaul in 2015.
City Profile: Miami has hosted 6 Super Bowls, 5 College Football National Championships, and WrestleMania XXVIII with Miami native The Rock headlining. However, its last PPV was 2013 Hell in a Cell.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Medium. The new stadium overhaul has made it an attractive location for other high-profile events, but WWE seems to have other Florida venues in mind. Perhaps they'll be back to Miami in the coming years.
Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
Stadium Profile: Opened in 2001 along with next-door PNC Park as a replacement to Three Rivers Stadium, Heinz Field seats 68,400. Its open south end has made it one of the toughest places for kickers. It's also hosted two NHL games: the 2011 Winter Classic and 2017 Stadium Series.
City Profile: Pittsburgh is the 27th largest metro area in the US. It was home to perhaps the most famous match in WWE history, Undertaker vs. Mankind's Hell in a Cell match in 1998. It also hosted the 2014 Royal Rumble and most recently 2018 Extreme Rules.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. As much as I'd love to see a WrestleMania in my home city of Pittsburgh, it's not exactly the biggest destination city in the world, and WWE seems to have shunned Pittsburgh from high-profile events after several negative crowd responses.
Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
Stadium Profile: The NFL's second-oldest stadium, Lambeau Field - named after Packer great Curly Lambeau - opened in 1957. Though single-bowled for most of its life, it added an upper deck at the south endzone in 2013. Most of its 81,441 seats are bleachers.
City Profile: Green Bay is the 158th biggest metro area in the US. It has never hosted a PPV, though Milwaukee has hosted several, most recently 2017 Fastlane.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. Maybe negative.
Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA
Stadium Profile: Home to the San Francisco 49ers (though San Francisco is about an hour drive north), Levi's Stadium opened in 2014 and holds 68,500. Its large glass press box has led to criticism for making the stadium too bright and hot during the daytime. Levi's hosted Super Bowl 50, WrestleMania 31, and the 2015 NHL Stadium Series.
City Profile: San Francisco is the 12th biggest metro area in the US, and San Jose is the 35th biggest metro area in the US. San Francisco has never hosted a PPV (likely to change in the coming years with the opening of the Chase Center). San Jose hosted the 1998 Royal Rumble, 2001 SummerSlam, and most recently 2018 TLC.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Very low. With the opening of SoFi Stadium ensuring multiple WrestleManias in California in the coming decades, accompanied with poor reception to the stadium and to The Undertaker having to make a daytime entrance, WWE probably won't be back to Levi's.
Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
Stadium Profile: Opened in 2003, "The Linc" sits in Philadelphia's famed Philadelphia Sports Complex in the same location as classic venues Veterans Stadium and The Spectrum. Lincoln Financial Field seats 69,796, and in addition to the Philadelphia Eagles and Temple Owls is the usual host of the Army-Navy Game.
City Profile: Philadelphia is the 8th biggest metro area in the US. Perhaps wrestling's most notorious crowd thanks in part to it being the home of ECW, Philadelphia has hosted a number of high-profile events over the years including WrestleMania XV, the 2015 and 2018 Royal Rumbles, and most recently 2019 Extreme Rules.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Low to medium. Philadelphia has been floated as a WrestleMania city before, and though it's not the best climate in early spring, you'd have to imagine a WrestleMania crowd in a normally-raucous city would be a sight (and sound) to behold.
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN
Stadium Profile: Indy sure does love its indoor stadiums. After the Colts moved into the Hoosier Dome (later RCA Dome) in 1984, they opened the retractable-roof Lucas Oil in 2008 with a capacity of 67,000. It's also the host of the Big Ten Championship Game, Super Bowl XLVI, and given Indy's status as a college basketball hub, will host at minimum two Final Fours in the future (2021 and 2026).
City Profile: Indianapolis is the 33rd biggest metro area in the US. The Hoosier Dome hosted WrestleMania VIII in 1992 and has since hosted a SummerSlam, a Survivor Series, and most recently 2016 Clash of Champions. It's also known to wrestling fans as the city where The Shield was formed in 2012 and where they broke up in 2014.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Low. While a beautiful stadium, Lucas Oil hasn't brought in as many events as Indianapolis surely hoped, in part due to its small market.
Lumen Field, Seattle, WA
Stadium Profile: Built in 2002 as a replacement to the literally-crumbling Kingdome, the former Qwest and CenturyLink Field holds a nice 69,000. Known for its triangular end zone stand and loud fans known as the "12th Man", it houses the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders.
City Profile: Seattle is the 15th largest metro area in the US. Next-door Safeco Field, home to the Mariners, hosted WrestleMania XIX in 2003, and KeyArena has only hosted two PPVs (most recently 2011 Over the Limit), though a major overhaul to the venue will likely change this once WWE resumes touring.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Very low. Safeco Field was WWE's venue of choice in 2003, and while it could be an attractive Rumble target in the coming years, I suspect Lumen won't be on their list.
M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
Stadium Profile: Home to the Baltimore Ravens, it opened in 1998 with a capacity of 71,008. Its most notable feature is its jumbotrons sandwiched between its upper and lower bowls. It's also hosted several Army-Navy games.
City Profile: Baltimore is the 21st largest metro area in the US. Baltimore has hosted several PPVs, most recently 2017 Extreme Rules.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. Though Royal Farms Arena is a common stop on WWE's touring schedule, M&T Bank is surely way low on the list of potential WrestleMania stadiums as it hasn't even been seriously considered in years past.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Stadium Profile: Jokingly nicknamed "Megatron" due to its distinctly-shaped exterior and retractable roof, Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in 2017 at a cost of $1.6 billion and seats 71,000. It hosts the Falcons, Atlanta United, the Peach Bowl, Super Bowl LII, and will surely host more Super Bowls and NCAA championships (both football and basketball).
City Profile: Atlanta is the 9th biggest metro area in the US and is also home to the world's busiest airport. Atlanta was the host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. The now-demolished Georgia Dome hosted WrestleMania XXVII, and Phillips Arena most recently hosted 2015 Survivor Series.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Extremely high. The only thing I see as a detraction is WWE being petty about TNT getting back in the wrestling business. Otherwise, this massive, futuristic stadium would be a perfect WrestleMania host.
Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA
Stadium Profile: One of the most famous stadiums in sports, the Superdome (brother) opened in 1975, though it is currently undergoing a massive renovation. It seats 73,208 and has hosted seven Super Bowls (scheduled for #8 in 2025), two WrestleManias, five Final Fours, and is the annual home of the Sugar Bowl.
City Profile: New Orleans is the 45th biggest metro area in the US, though it's become a cultural hub. WrestleMania 34 was the last PPV hosted in the city.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: High. WWE has hosted here twice before, and a massive renovation will continue to make it an attractive target.
MetLife Stadium, New York, NY (located in East Rutherford, NJ)
Stadium Profile: Located across the river from the heart of New York City, MetLife Stadium opened in 2010 as home of both the Giants and Jets and seats 82,500. Its price tag of $1.6 billion made it at the time the most expensive stadium in the US. It's hosted two WrestleManias (29 and 35) and is the only open-air northern city to host the Super Bowl.
City Profile: What else is there to say about New York? It's the largest metro area by far, it's a massive cultural hub, and in wrestling context has hosted many of wrestling's most memorable events including six WrestleManias.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Medium to high. NYC always has to be on the list when hosting large events, and given WWE has been to MetLife twice, you'd have to think they're willing to go again. The massive downside is the intense difficulty some fans had with leaving the stadium, although that's something that can be remedied with a little better planning.
Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN
Stadium Profile: Opened in 1999 to house the newly-christened Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium seats 69,143 and is also host to the annual Music City Bowl. It will be the centerpiece of a Nashville street circuit coming to the IndyCar calendar in 2021.
City Profile: Nashville is the 36th largest metro area in the US. Nashville last hosted 2014 Night of Champions, although a house show under the name "Smackville" was aired on the WWE Network in 2019.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Very low. I don't want to say zero, but this is as close to zero as it gets. Memphis is by far the more popular wrestling destination in the state, but it doesn't have a stadium capable of hosting a modern 'Mania.
NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
Stadium Profile: Built in 2002 to house the expansion Houston Texans, the Astrodome's spiritual successor houses 72,220. It's hosted two Super Bowls, two Final Fours, and is also on the schedule to host another Final Four and a College Football National Championship. NRG, then Reliant Stadium, hosted WrestleMania XXV.
City Profile: Houston is the 5th largest metro area in the US. In addition to XXV, the Astrodome - despite no longer having any tenants - hosted WrestleMania X-Seven, often regarded as the best WrestleMania (and possibly the best WWE PPV ever). Houston has hosted numerous PPVs, including the 2020 Royal Rumble at Minute Maid Park and several other Big 4s.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Low. Though the Toyota Center is a common PPV host, Dallas seems to be the preferred destination in the state for WrestleMania. Still, NRG holds its weight, and perhaps it'll get another WrestleMania down the line.
Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, OH
Stadium Profile: Like many cookie-cutters of the 70s, Riverfront Stadium was replaced by two stadiums; Paul Brown, opened in 2000, was the first, and it seats 65,515. An odd quirk in the contract with the city states that Cincinnati must pay for anything that 10 other NFL stadiums have, including holographic replays.
City Profile: Cincinnati is the 30th biggest metro area in the US. As it is not home to an NBA or NHL team, the outdated US Bank Arena hasn't hosted much for WWE, only 2006 Cyber Sunday and 2018 Starrcade (a rebranded house show).
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None. As highly of Moxley speaks of it, Cincinnati isn't a wrestling hub by any stretch, nor is it a big enough market to justify a high-profile event.
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
Stadium Profile: Opened in 1998, this stadium seats 65,890 and has been home to the Outback Bowl, two Super Bowls (it'll host its third later this month), and the 2017 College Football National Championship. Its most prominent feature is a giant pirate ship that fires its cannons when the home Buccaneers score.
City Profile: Tampa is the 18th largest metro area in the US. It hosted a few Big 4s decades ago, but prior to COVID last hosted 2014 Battleground. Sister city St. Petersburg will end up hosting several upcoming PPVs as it is the second home of the WWE Thunderdome.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Confirmed, as it will host WrestleMania later this year as a make-good for the Mania scrapped last year due to COVID-19. I'll admit that I was surprised to see Tampa on the schedule, and I can't imagine it'll come back after this year.
SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Stadium Profile: LA residents, I feel bad that you're on the hook for the $5 billion price tag of this megaplex that houses the Rams and Chargers. Opened last fall, it seats 70,420 on game day but can be expanded to over 100,000. It will also be the epicenter of the 2028 Summer Olympics and will likely be a major part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It also has next year's Super Bowl and 2023's College Football National Championship on its radar. Incidentally, it has yet to host fans.
City Profile: Los Angeles is the 2nd biggest metro area in the US. It's been home to numerous Big 4s including 3 WrestleManias (a fourth if you count nearby Anaheim) and was the regular host of SummerSlam for years.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Confirmed, as it is the host of WrestleMania 39 (pushed back from 37, presumably to allow California ample time to recover from COVID-19). It was intentionally over-built for high-profile events like WrestleMania, and I'm confident they will be back for many more.
Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
Stadium Profile: One of the classic sports venues, Soldier Field was built in 1924 but didn't host the Bears until 1971. A National Historic Landmark until 2002, it was delisted to allow the seating bowl to be gutted and rebuilt. Its signature Roman columns now reside at the stadium's gate.
City Profile: Chicago is the 3rd biggest metro area in the US. It's a popular site of Big 4s, but it's hosted just two WrestleManias, both in arenas (2 and 22). It most recently hosted 2019 Survivor Series. Most WWE shows are held not in the United Center but instead at the Allstate Arena in nearby Rosemont.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Very low. I have to say I'm surprised Chicago's not hosted WrestleMania in so long given how raucous its crowds are and given Chicago's giant market. However, Soldier Field is not the most advanced stadium in the world, and WWE seems to like warmer buildings.
State Farm Stadium, Phoenix, AZ
Stadium Profile: At the time of its opening in 2006, State Farm was perhaps the highest-tech stadium ever built. It notably features not just a retractable roof but a retractable field, allowing its Bermuda grass to get some sunlight. It's also hosted a Super Bowl, 3 College Football National Championships, and a Final Four, with another Super Bowl and Final Four coming in the next few years.
City Profile: Phoenix is the 10th biggest metro area in the US. Phoenix's first PPV was 2003 SummerSlam and it's hosted many since, including WrestleMania XXVI and most recently the 2019 Royal Rumble at Chase Field.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Low. You'd think if WWE were headed back to Glendale, it would've done so by now. Once the most high-tech stadium in America, its successes have since been duplicated by countless others.
TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville, FL
Stadium Profile: Do I really have to do this one? Jacksonville Municipal Stadium was built in the 1930s, but it was overhauled in 1995 to welcome the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, who are owned by the Khan family - the same family that owns AEW. It's also hosted Super Bowl XXXIX.
City Profile: Jacksonville is the 40th biggest metro area in the US. Without a NBA or NHL team, it's hosted just one PPV: 2007 One Night Stand.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: None, as long as AEW is around.
US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
Stadium Profile: Built in 2016 as a replacement to the Metrodome and seating 66,655, US Bank's distinct exterior was built to resemble a viking ship. In its short life so far, it's already hosted a Super Bowl and a Final Four.
City Profile: Minneapolis is the 16th biggest metro area in the US. Minneapolis hosted 1999 SummerSlam andlast hosted 2019 TLC. Surprisingly, the Metrodome never hosted WrestleMania.
Likelihood of hosting WrestleMania: Medium to high. US Bank Stadium is a technological marvel, but Minneapolis is far from the most attractive location.
The broadcast schedule appears to be changing rather rapidly, but it looks like all playoff games are available over the air (OTA) this year on Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC. Several of the games are also being broadcast on Nickelodeon, Freeform, ESPN/ESPN+, Amazon Prime, and CBS All Access. For the most current and up to date changes, see the NFL schedule here: https://www.nfl.com/schedules/2020/post1/ The Super Bowl will be shown OTA on CBS , online through CBS (Free), and will also be available on CBS All Access, and NFL GamePass. The current direct online link to watch for free on CBS is here: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/superbowl/live/ This year, if you have access to good signals with your OTA antenna, you should be able to watch most if not all of the playoff games and the Super Bowl. Edit to add: Check out the CordCutters NFL Guide for a lot more detail on various streaming platforms and accessing outside the US.
The Top 20 Largest Rivalries of the Last 10 Years According to Data
Using knowrivalry.com and footballdb.com I have calculated the top 20 rivalries in the NFL of the past 10 years (beginning January 3rd, 2011). To calculate the size of a rivalry I whipped up an equation: a+g+(p*20)+(a/(d/2)) = total score Key: a = aggregate score on knowrivalry (eg Lions assigned 44.12 rivalry points to the Packers, and the Packers assigned 12.81 rivalry points to the Lions, therefore the aggregate score is 56.92) d = difference between the two scores on knowrivalry (eg Lions assigned 44.12 rivalry points to the Packers, and the Packers assigned 12.81 rivalry points to the Lions, therefore the difference is 31.31) g = regular season matchups since Week 1 of the 2011 season p = postseason matchups since Round 1 of the 2010-2011 postseason There was an instance where the difference divided by 2 equaled less than 1 (Seahawks and Rams), so I manually overrode that and turned it into a 1, for the Seahawks and Rams are obviously not the biggest rivals in pro football. Before we start the list I want to mention 10 rivalries that I personally wish were more severe, and if you feel the same way go to knowrivalry.com and take the survey. Chiefs vs Patriots with a score of 48 AFC Championship which went into overtime 1-20-2019 Rams vs Patriots with a score of 48.5 Super Bowl LIII when everyone but the Pats lost 2-3-2019 Giants vs Patriots with a score of 38.87 Super Bowl XLVI when the Giants won... again 2-5-2012 Giants vs Jets with a score of 20.51 Overtime thriller with plenty of Fitzmagic 12-6-2015 Colts vs Chiefs with a score of 55.08 2nd largest comeback in NFL history 1-4-2014 Packers vs Cowboys with a score of 58.22 Packers heartbreakingly eliminate the Cowboys in the postseason... twice in 3 seasons 1-11-2015, 1-15-2017 Packers vs Seahawks with a score of 86.29 NFC Championship which had an onside kick 1-18-2015 Packers vs 49ers with a score of 87.28 49ers eliminate the Packers in back to back postseason... and again in 2020 1-12-2013, 1-5-2014 Saints vs Seahawks with a score of 52.71 Saints go on the road to Seattle to lose in heartbreaking fashion... twice... in the playoffs 1-08-2011, 1-11-2014 Saints vs Vikings with a score of 58.31 Minneapolis Miracle and then another big upset two post seasons later 1-14-2018, 1-5-2020 So now for the real list. If you have any disagreements talk about it in the comments, but also go to knowrivalry.com and take the survey so you can really change the data we have on rivalries. XX. Raiders vs Chargers with a score of 91.90 An excellent geographical rivalry between the Bay Area and San Diego is now a shell of what it once was. I’m expecting this to fizzle out because neither team has been in AFC Title contention in the 2010s, and now both teams are in new and unfamiliar locations. It is also very one-sided. Matchup in L.A. where the Raiders hosted their first true home game since 1994 12-31-2017 Chargers lose after a last second touchdown call was reversed 11-8-2020 XIX. Giants vs Eagles with a score of 92.72 This is definitely the most overrated rivalry in the NFL. Neither team has been good at the same time in the past 10 years, so the bitterness only remains from great games from a long time ago. It is also pretty one-sided, both in terms of wins and losses and their scores on knowrivalry. Jake Elliot kicks the longest field goal in Eagles history to win the game 9-24-2017 Eagles win in overtime to keep their playoff hopes alive 12-9-2019 XVIII. Panthers vs Saints with a score of 98.69 Pretty good rivalry within the most volatile division in football. The Panthers and Saints have fought for NFCS Championships which makes this rivalry a really good one in recent years. It is one sided on knowrivalry, but pretty close in terms of wins and losses in the series. Panthers drive down the field in the end of the 4th quarter to remain undefeated 12-6-2015 Wildcard matchup where Cam Newton injures his head-- or maybe his eye? 1-7-2018 XVII. Cowboys vs Football Team with a score of 101.12 A classic rivalry with a similar name to the popular kids game “Cowboys and Sports Team.” Neither team has been relevant since the early 90s, so this rivalry is kept on life support by annual Thanksgiving day matchups. It is a one-sided affair, but in 2020 the Football Team swept the Cowboys for the first time since 2012, so this might change. De facto NFCE Championship game where the Football Team won 12-30-2012 Cowboys nearly choke on Thanksgiving, but win to advance to a 10-1 record 11-24-2016 XVI. Titans vs Jaguars with a score of 104.79 An extremely lopsided rivalry, but the Jaguars hate the Titans so much this rivalry ranks 16th in the past 10 years. Both teams have been awful, and they’ve been awful at the same time. The only notable games I could find were tank bowls (which are fun in their own right). While the Titans are good now, the Jaguars were literally the worst team in 2020. Hopefully Lawrence and Meyer can breathe new life into this potentially great rivalry. Tank bowl in week 16 where the Titans lost and secured the 2nd overall pick 12-18-2014 Tank bowl in week 13 where the Titans won but secured the 1st overall pick 12-6-2015 XV. Broncos vs Patriots with a score of 106.20 Probably the greatest quarterback rivalry in NFL history. Two AFC Championships will certainly cause a rivalry between two teams, and especially if their quarterbacks are the two greatest quarterbacks of all-time. It’s also decently mutual with Pats fans expressing disdain toward the Broncos on knowrivalry. I don’t think this rivalry will live on for long. Patriots have a huge comeback in the second half to eventually win in overtime 11-24-2013 AFC Championship where the best statistical offense of all-time wins (Broncos) 1=19=2014 AFC Championship where a failed 2 point conversion hands the Broncos the W 1-24-2016 XIV. Browns vs Steelers with a score of 108.07 This is a wildly lopsided rivalry, but I’m hoping that could change in the upcoming years. The Steelers were 35-7-1 against the expansion team until the 2020 season where the Browns may have turned a new leaf. This has potential to be a big rivalry in this decade. Steelers rest most of their starters in week 17 but still beat the winless Browns 12-31-2017 Despite winning the game Browns DE Myles Garrett bashes Steelers QB Mason Rudolph over the head with his own helmet. Fights ensue and a coach gets fired 11-14-2019 The “Browns is the Browns” game in the wildcard round. This is technically the Browns’ first playoff win. Did you know the Steelers started the season 11-0? 1-10-2021 XIII. Ravens vs Patriots with a score of 108.76 This is the 2nd biggest non-divisional rivalry in the NFL, and that’s because of postseason matchups. The rivalry almost ended until Lamar Jackson came into the fold to challenge Brady for AFC dominance. Now that Brady’s gone this rivalry will probably die. P.S. I want everyone on this subreddit to go on knowrivalry and make the Ravens and Chiefs the new big thing. AFC Championship where the Ravens lost on a missed field goal. In the following offseason they got Justin Tucker who would help them next year 1-22-2012 AFC Championship where the Ravens didn’t really need Justin Tucker to win 1-20-2013 Ravens meet the Patriots in the postseason for the 3rd time in 4 seasons. Joe Flacco loses the game for the Ravens and the Patriots win the Super Bowl 1-10-2015 XII. Rams vs Seahawks with a score of 115.64 This rivalry was arguably enhanced when the Rams moved to the same time zone as the Seahawks, and it’s been very requited ever since. For whatever reason Jeff Fisher was Pete Carrol’s kryptonite, but even now the Rams still beat the Seahawks more often than not. This will be a great rivalry for the rest of the decade as both teams battle for NFCW ownership. Season opener where the Seahawks lost in overtime because they handed the ball off to Marshawn Lynch instead of passing it to Tyler Lockette 9-13-2015 Close game where Greg Zuerlein missed a 44 yard field goal and the Rams lost 10-4-2019 Wildcard round where the Seahawks only had 11 players on the field. They lost 1-9-2021 XI. Bengals vs Steelers with a score of 116.85 I was hoping this rivalry would make the list, and I’m really glad it is ranked this high. It is an insanely one-sided affair, but just because the fans don’t hate each other doesn’t mean the players don’t. Let’s see what happens when the two least well-behaved and least disciplined squads face each other twice a year and once in the playoffs. Wildcard round where the Bengals ended the longest playoff win drought in NFL history, but Vontaze Burfict and Adam Jones had a different plan. Despite the fact that the Bengals won the game, they managed to ultimately lose the game 1-9-2016 Primetime game where Ryan Shazier broke his back, William Jackson decided to not tackle Le'Veon Bell, and JuJu Smith-Schuster body slammed Vontaze Burfict. The Bengals were penalized 13 times and blew a 17 point lead 10-22-2017 Steelers miraculously win on a last minute touchdown pass to Antonio Brown 10-14-2018 X. Colts vs Texans with a score of 118.93 Yet another ridiculously one-sided rivalry. The Colts dominated the AFCS until Deshaun Watson came along and helped the Texans compete with the Colts. This rivalry is going to become even more lopsided as the Texans venture into the great unknown. Texans defeat the Colts to snap their lengthy streak of division wins 1-9-2016 Overtime thriller where the Colts played for a win instead of a tie, but lost 9-30-2018 Wildcard round where the Colts thoroughly beat the Texans on the road 1-5-2019 IX. Broncos vs Raiders with a score of 120.07 This is a transparently a goes-both-ways rivalry both in terms of wins and losses and their scores on knowrivalry. This is the battle for Utah as both teams now border the state, so this is a great geographical rivalry too. We will probably never see them face off in the playoffs though. Broncos defeat the Raiders to knock them down from the 2 seed to the 5 seed 1-9-2016 Michael Crabtree and Aqib Talib have one of the biggest fights in NFL history 11-26-2017 A 2nd quarter blocked PAT ultimately helped the Broncos win this game 20-19 9-18-2018 VIII. Packers vs Vikings with a score of 126.17 The 3rd most unbalanced rivalry in the NFL according to knowrivalry. Both teams have been duking it out for NFCN dominance in the past 10 years. I would’ve expected this rivalry to be a lot bigger because the states border each other, but Packers fans do not take the Vikings seriously at all. Fun fact: they ended matchups in ties twice in the 2010s Wildcard game where the Packers beat the Vikings right after losing to them 1-6-2013 De facto NFCN Championship game where Rodgers’s hail mary actually failed 1-3-2016 Critical week 16 game that gave the Packers the NFCN division title 12-23-2019 VII. Colts vs Patriots with a score of 126.66 The highest ranked non-divisional rivalry is also the most unbalanced according to knowrivalry. The last Colts quarterback to beat the Patriots was Peyton Manning back in 2009. Perhaps Patriots fans hated the Colts in the 2000s but the animosity is not there anymore. The Colts still hate the Patriots though. In fact, they assigned more rivalry points to them than any team in their own division, so I personally agree that this rivalry should be in the top 10. Divisional round game where the Colts almost managed to come back until imploding in the 4th quarter 1-11-2014 AFC Championship where the Colts lost by 38 points, but there was something strange happening on the Patriots’ side... 1-18-2015 “What... the... heck?” “What in the world? Flag is down. You tell me.” 10-18-2015 VI. Cowboys vs Eagles with a score of 129.67 This is a pretty groan-worthy rivalry if you ask me. Dallas has not been a serious contender in 25 years, but when they reach the playoffs they never face the Eagles (in the past 10 years). The Eagles tend to lose to the Cowboys in recent memory even though they’ve had better postseason success. Maybe someday in the distant future these teams will be relevant again. De facto NFCE Championship where Dallas lost on a failed 2 point conversion 12-29-2013 High scoring game ended in an overtime loss for the Eagles. EDP445’s video title: Another epic eagles collapse! Sorry ass pieces of shit 10-30-2016 Yet another game ended in an overtime loss for the Eagles which gave the Cowboys the NFCE title. EDP445’s video title: Nearly fired over the eagles 12-9-2018 V. Jets vs Patriots with a score of 160.75 Fun fact: the first trade these two organizations made since the Patriots acquired Bill Belichick? It was in 2019. These teams hate each other and surprisingly the fans hate each other too. Pats fans hate the Jets more than any other team, and vice versa. It is a hilariously one-sided affair on the field though. Let’s look at some notable games of the past 10 years. Jets pull off a massive upset in Foxboro to advance to the AFC Championship 1-16-2011 The Butt Fumble. “It is the perfect representation of failure, buffoonery, submission, and outstanding comedic timing.” - UrinatingTree 11-22-2012 Patriots come back in the 4th quarter to reassure their spot as AFCE leaders 10-25-2015 Austin Seferian-Jenkins scores a crucial 4th quarter touchdown which gets controversially overturned; the ball was given to the Patriots at their 20 yard line because of a mind-bendingly awful touchback rule 10-15-2017 IV. Seahawks vs 49ers with a score of 163.75 This is one of the closest contested rivalries of the past 10 years. Both teams have won numerous NFC Championships recently, and both fanbases hate each other equally. We can expect this rivalry to live on for several more years as they are geographically fighting for Oregon, and they will both be in contention for the NFC West (as long as Russell Wilson plays). Frank Gore tears into the Seahawks defense to win the game in the final minute 12-8-2013 NFC Championship where the 49ers tried the best corner in the game with a sorry receiver like Crabtree. They should have never talked about him 1-19-2014 Overtime thriller where the 49ers tried to harm the Seahawks’ playoff chances. They won but the Seahawks still reached the postseason 12-16-2018 De facto NFCW Championship game where the Seahawks forgot to snap the ball at the 1 yard line, so the 49ers won and were given the 1 seed 12-29-2019 III. Bears vs Packers with a score of 176.56 This is obviously a great historic rivalry. The Packers just recently took the lead in the series, and it is looking like they are going to run with it. The rivalry is very unbalanced according to knowrivalry, but the Packers do hate the Bears more than any other team. This rivalry is so important that the NFL interrupted the tradition of scheduling the season opener for the defending Super Bowl champs so that the Packers and Bears could play for the 100th season. NFC Championship where the Bears were underdogs at home, and they lost 1-23-2011 De facto NFCN Championship game where the Packers miraculously won 12-29-2013 Yet another Soldier Field game where Rodgers broke hearts. “Rodgers has time. Now some pressure, throws it deep, Jordy Nelson... he’s got it!” 12-18-2016 Sunday Night season opener where Aaron Rodgers comes back from 20 points late in the 3rd quarter, and he did it on one leg. Or this can be known as the biggest choke the Bears ever had. Fun fact: they passed the ball on 3rd & 1 9-9-2018 II. Saints vs Falcons with a score of 187.96 Of course this rivalry is on this list. It is incredible how much these teams and fanbases hate each other, and how many times they’ve played must-win games. Surprisingly they haven’t met each other in the playoffs in a long time even though they’ve both been good recently. This rivalry will still be a doozie for years to come as both teams will be similarly awful for a while. Overtime thriller where the Falcons ran a terrible play on 4th and inches and lost 11-13-2011 Important Thursday night game where Sean Payton taunted the Falcons then later ran onto the field to immediately get penalized and lose the game 12-29-2013 Overtime thriller where Drew Brees ran for two touchdowns to win the game 9-23-2018 Coming into this game the Falcons were 14 point underdogs. They proceeded to win 26-9 and the Saints eventually had to settle for the 3 seed in the playoffs 11-10-2019 I. Steelers vs Ravens with a score of 275.39 That score is not a typo. This is far and away the most contested, evenly matched and primetime slot stealing rivalry in the NFL. This has the second highest aggregate score on knowrivalry right after the Saints vs Falcons, but the playoff appearances and small difference inflate this rivalry’s score. If you think about it, who could argue with this being the top of the list? In the past 10 years the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens have the best rivalry in the NFL. Divisional round game where the Ravens blew a 14 point lead at halftime 1-15-2011 Important Sunday night matchup where the Ravens stun the Steelers in Pittsburgh with a last minute touchdown pass to Torrey Smith 11-6-2011 Thanksgiving night meeting where the Steelers lost on a failed 2 point attempt 11-28-2013 Christmas night matchup where the ‘Immaculate Extension’ happened. The Steelers had no timeouts and there were 9 seconds on the clock, so if Antonio Brown’s touchdown was overturned they would’ve lost the game à la the Detroit Lions against the Falcons. The Steelers won the division because they won 12-25-2016 Big Ben has a big Sunday night game (seriously these teams always play at night because the NFL knows what’s up) as the Ravens choke a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter. This was one of four times Roethlisberger threw for over 500 yards; he holds the record for most 500 yard games. 12-10-2017 I would also like to mention 5 rivalries the NFL believes are some of the best of all-time, but ultimately failed to make the list. Perhaps they were once good rivalries, but now they are dead. The Raiders and Steelers are not that big of a deal anymore. The Cowboys and Steelers seldom play each other so that’s not that big of a deal. The Cowboys and 49ers don’t play each other in the playoffs anymore because the Cowboys don’t reach the playoffs. The Patriots and Steelers is extremely lopsided and neither team will be in Super Bowl contention for years to come. And lastly the Giants and 49ers which has been dead because the Giants never face them in the playoffs anymore. Seriously go on knowrivalry.com and take the survey TL;DR Giants and Eagles is overrated, and Steelers and Ravens is underrated

Good News.
1. The agency just reported today that the state's recordable non-fatal occupational injury and illness rate has fallen to the lowest point on record. The total recordable incident rate for all industries has fallen to the lowest level since the US Bureau of Labor Statistics began recording the data in 1996, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Program Fiscal Year 2020 Annual Report. So for 2020, based on 2019 BLS data, we were at 3.2 cases per 100 full time equivalent workers, for comparison that was 8.4 in 1996. What this means is this was the safest year, even in the midst of a pandemic, to be a worker in Kentucky.
3. Today we've announced the reopening of all Kentucky State Police post locations to the public to assist in the fight against the drug epidemic, through the Angel Initiative. KSP’s Angel Initiative is a proactive program designed to help people battle addiction, and it's available throughout the state. Anyone suffering from substance use disorder can visit a KSP post to be paired with a local officer who will assist them locating an appropriate treatment program. <...> KSP posts are open to the public Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm and COVID-19 guidelines must be followed. In addition to seeking treatment, individuals may go to any KSP post to safely dispose of any drugs or contraband they may have in their possession without threat of arrest.
Vaccines: So what you see here is we will begin reporting, and updating on a daily basis, how many unique people have been vaccinated in Kentucky. That, we will show next to the total number of doses, first doses, of vaccine allocated to the state, and then you'll see a utilization percentage there. So the goal here is to show you for all the vaccine we receive, what percentage has been administered as a first dose to Kentuckians.<...> So, in this top chart you can see we've broken down the state program, those are all the allocations that came to us at the state level, and then we distributed out, or allocated out, to hospitals and local health departments predominantly to administer to Kentuckians. <...> Please remember, even though you hear that the quantities have been increased and the federal government said 16% last week, and an additional 5% this week, those are wonderful developments to have more vaccine. However, the doses we're getting are still 68,000 or so doses a week, it's gonna take a while to reach everyone who wants to be immunized. <...> So please, I know when you go to these sites, you make the phone calls, it feels like you're not able to get through. It's probably accurate for many of you, it's because we're only getting so much vaccine and the demand is so great. So please know they are vaccinating, they're using everything they're getting as quickly as they can. It's a matter of needing more vaccine to fulfill the demand right now, which is very large.
What made the state change the requirements to make sure only Kentucky residents are receiving the vaccine? -- We had people who lived and worked in other states coming over and trying to get in priority groups in our state that they didn't qualify for in their state.
Senator Robbie Mills today spoke to the very frustrations that you have mentioned that his constituents in Hopkins and Daviess county saying there's just no vaccines available, but he also said that they have a perception that Indiana is doing better than Kentucky, and that they're very frustrated by that. He also spoke to the need, what he perceived the need to be, more and better communication about vaccine availability from your administration. So I just would like for you to sort of speak to that perception that other states are doing better than us and also to his call for better communication. -- Well, we're a top 10 state for vaccinations, the last four weeks we vaccinated more people than we've received doses. If you go over 100% I think that's pretty good. I think in most statistics, we're ahead of Indiana, but I want Indiana to do well too. [...] And we've been communicating about supply, supply, and supply every day, you all have seen it. On our website we show exactly how many doses we get in and how many go out. Their providers have their amount, which is a public when they receive it, and they put it out. So we're getting it out as fast as we can. It's gone out, we believe, equitably across the state. In fact, in the beginning, rural Kentucky got more than urban Kentucky as we were directing it out towards healthcare workers. I think that there are multiple providers in the area that would say that they think that they are being treated fairly. But listen unfortunately a speech on the senate or house floor right now is in the silly season. I don't think they're going to get up and say anything positive. It's unfortunate but that's where we are but you know this is also a body that I hope will be more thoughtful, moving forward, on what they pass. You know, we had to go to court today to challenge three bills, one I'll give you an example was House Bill 1. It basically said no more the Governor's executive orders, “CDC guidance” is now the law. They didn't say which guidance, there are 174 CDC guidance documents. <brings up a stack of documents to the podium> Now, I guess every business would have to look through all 174 of these, which multiple ones will apply to them and try to figure out what they do or do not have to do. I mean we can't defeat a vaccine with this . What should you do to keep people safe? This . We’ve got to have clear consistent rules, and that's what the Supreme Court said, you know, just a couple months ago. So, whether or not people want to pull authority for me, let's be smart and how we address the virus and not say to our businesses “It's on you now here's all the paperwork”
Good afternoon everybody, good afternoon Rachel. It's four o'clock, on Wednesday, that time we come together to remember that we're gonna get through this, and we're gonna get through it together. I'll start by thanking everybody for allowing me to move yesterday to today, we all struggle at times through this pandemic, and admittedly I just needed a day. But I am back at it, I’m ready, and we are going to defeat this thing together. We have a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a big, bright light, it's going to take us time to get there so continue to mask up, continue to do all those things that protect people and as you'll see, our numbers continue to look better and better with the exception of those that we are losing, which are result of that dramatic increase we experienced.
Let's start with good news, we need good news in our world and let's remember we can, rightfully so, we get caught up thinking all day long about the pandemic but there's still lots of good things going on.
First is worker safety. So I speak often about the importance of Kentucky's workforce, which is the backbone of the middle class, the glue that binds most of our communities together. It's also so many of you, our families, how you put food on the table. My administration is committed to providing well paying opportunities for growth and retirements marked by dignity and security. Above all, we treat all honest work as worthwhile, and we treat our workers with respect. The hard working folks at the Kentucky Labor Cabinet have played a major role in ensuring we're living these values during the pandemic. Most often, I talk about unemployment insurance or those who play a role in keeping us safe by investigating reports of non-compliance to the Kentucky safer hotline. But the cabinet is also responsible for enforcing Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) at workplaces throughout the Commonwealth. Those are the standards that are supposed to keep us safe, that identify unsafe hazardous or unhealthy environments, that stops practices that pose dangers. And when companies don't live up to those standards, cite them, and help them, and provide them the incentive to ultimately get things right, to make sure all of our Kentuckians are safe on the job. So today we’ve got some really good news to share on that front. It means that our labor cabinet is doing it right but it means so many of you all are doing it right too. This is what happens when we enforce standards. when we create the right framework to ensure that our folks show up and they're productive, they're enthusiastic, and that they are also safe. So, 2020, having the lowest injury rate since it's been recorded, in 1996, is some pretty good news. It means a lot more people made it home at night to their families, and a lot more people made it home happy and healthy, and that's what we want every day here in the Commonwealth. We have seen a steady decline over time and let's keep it up. Let's get to the point where our workplaces are so safe that no one is ever injured. That sounds like it may be a tough task but I believe both our people and our employers are up for that challenge.
Second piece of good news. The Justice and Public Safety Cabinet today is awarding more than $2M in grant funding from the Federal Violence Against Women Act STOP Formula Grant Program to 28 agencies across our state. This federal funding allows our state to better support the insurmountable work provided by victim advocacy services, law enforcement agencies, and local units of government to victims of violent crime. Funds are received from the Office on Violence Against Women, a component of the United States Department of Justice. The Office on Violence Against Women require state administrative agencies allocate 25% for law enforcement, 25% for prosecutors, 30% for victim services, 5% for state and local courts, and 15% for discretionary distribution. The funding should be used for projects that serve or focus on adults and youth who are victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Some of the programs funded by the grant include, and these are a bunch of great organizations that I had a chance to work with as attorney general, and the work they do is so appreciated and here supported. Chrysalis House has been awarded $51,830 to continue funding a domestic violence therapist to ensure physical and emotional safety is established, prior to treatment for women who have experienced intimate partner violence. Merryman House Domestic Crisis Centers has been awarded $56,264 to increase safety of domestic violence survivors in the Purchase Area Development District by sustaining and improving collaboration efforts with local law enforcement and prosecution. The Nest Center for Women, Children, and Families has been awarded $116,780 which will allow it to continue to hire contract attorneys who will provide legal services at no charge to families, obtaining an order of protection against their perpetrator in 18 different counties. We’ve got to work together to stop the scourge that is domestic violence, to make sure that our people are safe. The long term ramifications go far beyond just the partner, the physical and emotional scars that it leaves on our children is something we all ought to be committed to stopping. I believe in a world without domestic violence, without sexual abuse, without child abuse, and it should be attainable, just takes all of us continuing to work every day. And these $2 million to organizations that earn the money are going to help us to get there.
Alright, one other piece of good news, which is our Kentucky State Police Angel Initiative. KSP launched the Angel Initiative in 2016, this was done by the previous administration, through funding from the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy. I committed that when I became governor we do the right things, and the right programs we build on. We wouldn't simply eliminate things or take action out of spite and we've lived up to that promise. The Angel Initiative was a good initiative created by our last commissioner of the state police and by our last governor. Reopening it to the public is the right thing to do and it's going to help people. KSP posts are open to the public Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm and COVID-19 guidelines must be followed. In addition to seeking treatment, individuals may go to any KSP post to safely dispose of any drugs or contraband they may have in their possession without threat of arrest. One more program we can use to help those who are suffering.
So that's all good news. Aside from what we deal with every day in the pandemic there are lots of beacons of light out there, lots of people continuing to do good work even in challenging circumstances, and there's lots of people doing good work in working to defeat this virus. Our vaccination efforts right now are exciting to see. You walk into one of our vaccination centers and you see a workforce that is inspired and is moving. You see people clearly walking around with purpose. You see faith in action, and protecting other people. And you see people who've worked long shifts who are still smiling when that next person sits down because they're going to get their vaccine. We’ve got a short video here that recaps yesterday's opening of our first regional vaccination site at the Kentucky horse park, outside of Lexington and Scott County. Take a look, it's pretty special.
<VIDEO> This is an exciting day for Kentucky. Through this new and growing partnership with Kroger health, we will be able to vaccinate more Kentuckians as we received more supply from the federal government. We are here inside the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena in Lexington, where Kroger health is launching the first regional vaccination site in the state. Across the Commonwealth we are seeing efficiency pick up and pick up every single week. We are getting better and better at vaccinating people, which means for every Kentucky in your time is coming sooner rather than later. The last four weeks we've vaccinated more people than we've received doses from the federal government, meaning our only limitation at this point is supply supply and supply. But we can't simply sit back, we have to continue to grow our capacity so when we have those additional vaccines, when the manufacturing picks up, when we have a flood of these life saving shots of hope, that we are ready to get them out there and get them in people's arms as quickly as humanly possible. So let's continue to mask up, let's continue to engage in social distancing, and when it's your turn and your time, let's roll up our sleeves and get this shot of hope.
The individual you saw getting vaccinated there is one of our veterans. He has several health conditions, but wanted to step up and to be an example. We were all excited, we were all moved to see him get that vaccine. On vaccines, today we've got Dr Stack, he's going to talk through how we're gonna change our reporting, what you see online, each and every day to be a better indicator of how quickly we are getting the vaccine to new people, because that's really what we want to focus on. Some look at doses out there but when you get a second dose it's got to go to a specific person. What we are focused on is how quickly we can get people that first part of their vaccination as efficiency. Now, I will remind you that we get these doses primarily on Tuesday-ish, late Monday, early Tuesday. So, Tuesday, Wednesday, there's always going to be the biggest difference between our supply and how many people were vaccinated. But what you'll see from the reporting is by the time we get through that next Monday, seven days after it, we're vaccinating more people every week of the past four weeks, then we get supply. We're not gonna be able to do that much longer, it's from extra from the first couple of weeks as we were ramping up and that is very quickly being used up. Thankfully, we're gonna receive, or we're now receiving, about 21-22% more vaccine. This next week will be the first week we reached that full increase since the new administration took over in Washington. Dr Stack?
You can all relate to this, this is a video conference world-- I had three screens open and I couldn't get to it. So Governor, thank you very much. I have two topics that the governor would like me to speak about tonight. And then I'll walk us through that.
So, on our website we're going to change, and this should be updated tonight, we're going to change how we report the vaccines that are administered. Remember the single most important metric is how many people have been vaccinated, how many unique people have been vaccinated, because those are the persons who are on the road to protection from the vaccine. So what you see here is we will begin reporting, and updating on a daily basis, how many unique people have been vaccinated in Kentucky. That, we will show next to the total number of doses, first doses, of vaccine allocated to the state, and then you'll see a utilization percentage there. So the goal here is to show you for all the vaccine we receive, what percentage has been administered as a first dose to Kentuckians. Now, the other way to do this is to show all the doses, which include first dose and second dose, but we're committed to giving the second dose to everyone who gets the first dose-- that should happen as a matter of routine course. So the most important metric is who has started this journey, and received a first dose, which means they will be part of a two-dose immunization program and when they complete that they'll have the full benefit of the protection from the vaccine. And remember, if the third vaccine gets approved, if the Johnson and Johnson vaccine gets approved, and we're all cautiously hopeful that will happen later this month, that is only a one-dose vaccine. So again, in this paradigm that will be the metric that matters the most, is how many people have received their first dose, and therefore are on the path towards protective immunity from this disease. So, in this top chart you can see we've broken down the state program, those are all the allocations that came to us at the state level, and then we distributed out, or allocated out, to hospitals and local health departments predominantly to administer to Kentuckians. There's also the federal Long Term Care program, and so that's listed here is the LTCF Program, that was the partnership between the federal government and CVS and Walgreens to vaccinate licensed long term care facilities and assisted living facilities. Now, in this, you'll see 80,925 first doses, we had recaptured 13 trays of Pfizer, about 12,675 doses, back to the state program and reallocated it. And you’ll see the remaining doses in that program, they are working to do their second doses, and we'll go back for a third visit to finish up all of those nursing homes, and then they will use the remaining inventory to reach other populations and use up all of that. So, eventually, that will reach 100%, and then it will all be the state program going forward. You can also see in the lower table there that we will report to you on a week by week basis how many new vaccines we were allocated and how many unique persons were immunized that week. And the governor has already drawn attention to this, if you look down there at the week of January 12th, you can see we immunized 143% relative to the first doses. What that means is that backlog, that inventory that we did not use the first few weeks of the program in December, we used up very quickly once we swung into increased productivity in the month of January. Remember, I've said for a while, December was always going to be a challenge for a number of reasons. January was about bringing order to disorder. And now February is moving solidly into consistent, effective production and administration of vaccine and building a system that gives you confidence that you can sign up and get some clarity about when you may be able to be vaccinated, and then have certainty you will be vaccinated in a phased manner, which is what is necessary because of the quantities of vaccines we receive.
Please remember, even though you hear that the quantities have been increased and the federal government said 16% last week, and an additional 5% this week, those are wonderful developments to have more vaccine. However, the doses we're getting are still 68,000 or so doses a week, it's gonna take a while to reach everyone who wants to be immunized. And we have plenty of stories now, when health departments or vaccine sites turn on their scheduling, we find that, for example in one of the regions in the first hour that their phone lines were open they had 51,000 phone calls trying to schedule for the 700 doses they were given. In the first two and a half hours their phone lines were open 110,000 phone calls came in to try to access that 700 vaccines. So please, I know when you go to these sites, you make the phone calls, it feels like you're not able to get through. It's probably accurate for many of you, it's because we're only getting so much vaccine and the demand is so great. So please know they are vaccinating, they're using everything they're getting as quickly as they can. It's a matter of needing more vaccine to fulfill the demand right now, which is very large. And then I hope those who are maybe hesitant to receive the vaccine see how effective it is and how the others tolerate the vaccine so well, that other people will also want to follow along in the months ahead.
Last topic I want to talk about, . There's a small sporting event happening this weekend, the Chiefs and the Bucks should be playing with each other on the football field. Well you enjoy that game, for those of you who will enjoy, I need to ask you, please, please, please this is just like any other holiday or social event. You have to practice social distancing, you have to wear your masks, please. When people get together in private residences, in close proximity, that is one of the single most effective ways to spread this disease. We can't afford to have the disease spread now. With these mutations and these variants, every time we allow it to infect more people, it gives the virus the opportunity to mutate. It gives the virus the opportunity to learn how to defeat the antibodies that our bodies are forming based on the vaccines, or the natural infection. We just can't afford to have that. It dangers us all and could undermine the success we're also optimistic we're going to see in the months ahead as more people get vaccinated. So please don't hold any large gatherings.
Remember the current guideline was two households max and eight people or less. That was the current recommendation for the recent holidays and that still holds true now. It's good advice and I'd ask you to please follow it.
Six feet of distance or more between people.
Wear your masks at all times. It's difficult when you have parties because people eat and drink and you take your mask off and that's exactly what makes the infection easily spread. Please don't do that.
Have virtual Super Bowl parties. Enjoy the Super Bowl in the privacy of your own home. We're hopefully getting to the light at the end of the tunnel for this pandemic but if we take our eye off the ball, we can have more super spreader events and have more problems with more of these mutations and more spread of the disease.
So enjoy the Super Bowl this weekend. I'm not going to tell you who I would prefer to win, you can have your own favorites in that, but enjoy the game and do it safely. And please, there's a lot of wonderful stories out there. What I hear from folks go into these vaccine sites, there are smiles, there is clear, just unbridled happiness, in a way, perhaps, people haven't seen in a while because I think people feel empowered. They feel like they're able to take action, rather than feel like they're a passive victim of this disease, and that they're taking a positive step to bring it to an end. That's what we want to celebrate on and focus on-- is the optimism, the hope, the caring, and the kindness to all the good things about humanity. We could focus on all the negative sides too but ultimately, it doesn't help advance our cause and it doesn't help us rally together as a state, and as a community. So please, be good to each other, be kind, and we're working as hard as we can to get you vaccinated, and we'll do so as quickly as the vaccine qualities allow us. Governor, back to you. Thank you.
Thanks to Dr Stack, and everybody tune in tomorrow where we'll be announcing additional regional centers across Kentucky, building out our map as we go. We'll also be talking about local health departments, all of which are going to be getting a consistent supply for at least the next three weeks. Though that supply, remember, is limited and it's going to be dwarfed by the amount of calls, and interest. Again, that is a good thing. It means that we don't have the level of vaccine hesitancy we were worried about. We do have it in certain populations and we're going to work on that as we go in real time.
Positive cases today: 2,592 - That was about 100 cases more than this time last week, but significantly less than the two weeks before. Again, that is positive, in that we have significantly less virus than three weeks ago and we hope that this will be the first time by the end of this week that we have had four straight weeks, one month, of declining cases. Right now it looks possible at the very worst we think it will be close to what we had last week.
Probable cases: 861
Total confirmed cases: 369,519
Children Under 18: 416
We only have 106 red counties. Right now that's the fewest we've had in a while. We obviously need to decrease that.
Total tests conducted: 4,111,126 (PCR: 3,635,689, Serology: 108,611)
Positivity Rate: 8.53% - Shows you that this is real, it's not just a result of how many tests there are, we're seeing a decrease in the virus
Our hospitalization, ICU, and ventilator numbers are all really stable too. One’s up five, one’s down five, but again, we were able to take the steps we needed to, at a time when our healthcare capacity could have been overrun, like happened in so many other states-- we avoided that and now we've seen decrease.
Total hospitalized: 17,010
Currently hospitalized: 1,340
Total in ICU: 3,618
Currently in ICU: 368
On a ventilator: 171
Total recovered: 44,073
New deaths today: 51 - But the tough part about our days right now is the number of deaths. January was rough, it was our worst month, and February is going to be tough too. Today we're announcing 51 new deaths related to COVID-19, seven, or individuals 60 years or younger.
Total Deaths: 3,863
New deaths by county: 59 F Adair, 63 F Ballard, 85 F Bell, 29 F Boone, 79 M Boone, 82 F Boyle, 93 M Boyle, 93 M Breathitt, 72 M Calloway, 72 M Calloway, 51 M Campbell, 82 M Campbell, 87 F Carter, 60 M Casey, 75 F Fayette, 53 M Fayette, 86 M Fayette, 90 F Fleming, 68 M Franklin, 94 M Franklin, 53 M Gallatin, 62 M Gallatin, 85 F Hardin, 88 F Hardin, 81 M Hardin, 89 M Hart, 69 F Hopkins, 86 F Hopkins, 80 F Jefferson, 81 F Jefferson, 80 M Jefferson, 96 M Jefferson, 100 M Jefferson, 79 F Kenton, 77 F Laurel, 54 F McCracken, 65 M McCracken, 69 M McCracken, 63 F Marshall, 77 F Marshall, 71 M Meade, 80 M Meade, 64 F Mercer, 53 M Montgomery, 75 M Nicholas, 90 F Ohio, 88 M Trigg, 93 M Washington, 88 M Wayne, 87 F Whitley, 89 M Whitley
All losses are a loss for Kentucky. Let’s light those houses up green and let’s ring those bells at 10am. This is a reminder that we are thinking of the Kentuckians we’ve lost, their families, and their communities. It’s the color of compassion and renewal as their souls move from their bodies to a better place.

I am 33 years old, make $180,000, live in Los Angeles, and am self employed
I am 33 years old, make $180,000, live in Los Angeles, and am self employed Intro: I hope this gives people an idea of what finances look like while self-employed. I have included the Ref29 questions at the beginning to give you some more context. I am really nervous and excited to share this and appreciate being part of this community. Please be easy on me as this was not easy for me to share. Ref29 questions: Was there an expectation for you to attend higher education? Did you participate in any form of higher education? If yes, how did you pay for it? Yes. Neither of my parents had college degrees. They didn’t really emphasize needing to go to college but the pressure came from the environment I was in. At my high school, it was assumed that everyone would go to a 4-year college. Community College was not even talked about as an option. Even though I am a first generation college student, it is not as much part of my identity as I think it plays for others. My dad was extremely successful in starting his own business as was my step dad, who also did not go to college. Now with a PhD, I almost feel like I took the easy route. Growing up, what kind of conversations did you have about money? Did your parent/guardian(s) educate you about finances? Yes. My father passed away extremely suddenly when I was 13 and my mom was put in the position of figuring out what we were going to do since she did not work outside of helping my dad with his company. I grew up in a wealthy neighborhood (TV shows are made about the neighborhood I grew up in), went to private school, got a BMW as my first car, and went on international vacations every year (both to visit our family in our home country--my mom and I are the only ones in the U.S.-- but also to visit family friends in places like South Africa). It was an extremely privileged upbringing. When my dad passed away, my mother started emphasizing the need to cut down on expenses. I was extremely lucky that I did not have to change schools when my father passed away and that I could maintain a stable environment. As I got a little bit older there was a huge emphasis from my mother on women needing to take care of themselves and men not needing to know everything that they had. I am in my 30s and unmarried and this has definitely influenced my financial expectations and goals. Did you worry about money growing up? I would say no. Even when my dad passed away, we did not have any obvious financial struggles (or at least my mother never showed me). Do you worry about money now? I do not worry about money now. Half a year ago when I was ramping up my consulting business there were a few months where I didn't have any clients and I was worried about what would happen next. I am thankfully now at a point where I no longer have fears of not getting clients. At what age did you become financially responsible for yourself and do you have a financial safety net? I think there is some debate in this community of what this even means. At 21, when I graduated college and got a job, I started paying for my bills although my mom still paid for the phone bill and car insurance. I do have a safety net in terms of being able to move home if I needed to and that I can make passive income through renting my apartment (more on this later). I do think how I grew up led to my being able to get a Ph.D. At the time I made this decision, it wasn't about finding a job that made the most money, instead, it was about what I'm really interested in. Do you or have you ever received passive or inherited income? If yes, please explain. Yes. As I mentioned above my father passed away extremely unexpectedly when I was 13. I got a sum of money from his Social Security payout every month until I turned eighteen. This went to a college fund for me which was used to pay for college and a small portion for a down payment of the current property that I live in. My mother also contributed the rest of the down payment (totaling 20%) on the property that I live in. I purchased the property (2 apartments and a house, three units total) in 2013, which was a great time in Los Angeles to buy. I am extremely grateful to my mother for coming up with this suggestion and doing this for me. In 2021, I am also expecting to receive my father’s portion of an inheritance from my grandparents. I will most likely keep this in our home country and will need to learn more about the tax implications. I receive passive income from house hacking. This money goes into a separate account that the mortgage is pulled from and I do not count in my calculations. This account pretty much zeros out every year due to expenses, mortgage, and property tax. Income Progression: I've been working in my field for 11 years. I am counting the first year of my PhD as the first year I started working in my field. Prior to my PhD I had a few odd jobs. I babysat as a teenager. I had a job the summer before college at a health food store in my area (I believe I was making $8 an hour plus tips) and I worked for 1 year as an admin assistant from 2009-2010. 2009-2010: I took a year off between my undergraduate and graduate degrees so I could save money before going to graduate school, pay for application fees, and take the GRE. I worked for my university at the medical school doing admin work. The salary was $32,000 a year, but a few months in, we had to take 1 day a month furlough due to the financial crisis and budget cuts. I was very lucky to even have gotten this job as many of my friends who also graduated in 2009 were not able to find jobs after graduation. I also tutored SAT and made $400 a month (which was my rent at the time! I split a 2 bedroom 1 bath with 3 other guys!). I was able to save $10,000 for grad school and go on two big trips the summer before my PhD. 2010-2015: During my PhD program I earned between $1400 and $1800 a month for 9 months (summers are not typically paid). In a given year this was less than $20,000. For some summers, I was able to find a research job. I lived in university housing and paid about $630 for my room in a 3 bedroom 2 bath student housing. 2015-2016: Upon graduating with my PhD I did a postdoc at the university where I got my undergrad degree from. This paid $59,000 a year. This is actually very high for my field. Typical postdocs in my field are closer to $40,000-$50,000 a year (for reference, my field is Education). 2016-2019: I worked at a research center on campus affiliated with my postdoc. My starting salary was $64,000 and got a 3% merit raise every year for 3 years (the merit raise was technically a cost of living raise). I think I ended up making $72,000 only because I asked for my title to be changed. I was severely underpaid (I would say by $20K) in this position compared to other colleagues, which I was able to look up because salaries at public universities are public. I brought this up to management and was put in a position where I basically needed to leave. I had applied to many jobs and was one of the last 2 candidates for many positions, but never got an offer! I did get a verbal offer from one company but the next day was told that they actually did not have the budget for that position. I was in a very low place, to say the least. Second half of 2019: I was extremely lucky to find a startup to consult for part-time for a few months. I charged $100 an hour. That brought my total income to $80,000 in 2019. 2020: A few months later, I got another full time consulting gig making $150 an hour for 5 months. In June of this year was when I really started my own consulting business in that I was looking to build a business with multiple clients instead of being a contract employee or “full time” at one place. I am in the field of education and during COVID Edtech has blown up. It was a rough few months of no projects but in just a few months was able to build up a full roster of clients. I made $180,000 this year and am so proud of this huge jump I made! I never thought this would be possible. Assets and Debt *note I have rounded balances to the nearest 1,000. Retirement Balance $63,000 in a roll over 401K (technically 403B) from my previous job. I worked for 3 years (+1 if you count postdoc) at a university. Mandatory 7% contribution with 7% match. I additionally contributed 5%. $41,000 in my self 401K. $1,500 in an individual Roth. My goal is to contribute $20,000 a year to my self 401K. $22,000 iIn Roth IRA contributions from previous years contributions that I finally invested this year. Before it was sitting in CDs (how dumb of me!). Part if this was from that initial $10,000 I had saved for grad school and part with money I had saved from working. Equity if you're a homeowner (and how much you put down and how you accumulated that payment). Put down $225,000 (20%) on a multi family home. The house has 3 units. Most of it was from my mother. She is of the mindset that it is better to get an inheritance now that can be invested than to get it later. Some of this from a college fund that I didn’t use all of. $707,000 left to pay on the mortgage. Value is around $1.8 Million (according to my realtor last year). Savings account balance $20,000 in an emergency fund. This is split between my personal savings and my business account. I saved this in 2020. $20,000 in savings for downpayment for a single family home. I am hoping to save a total of $100,000. I saved this in 2020. $3,000 in a travel and sinking fund. Because I do not get paid on a regular schedule, I like to keep more here so that I can transfer this to my checking account when needed. I saved this in 2020. $12,000 in my tax fund. I set aside 30% of income I receive in a separate account for taxes. For 5 months this year I worked as a contractor and received a W2 and taxes were already taken out. I have paid quarterly taxes this December and am keeping this in case I need to pay more come April. Investment accounts (non retirement) $6,100 in my stocks. This changes from day to day. I have amazon, uber, target, zoom, and tesla stock. I only started investing late 2019 and 2020. $25,000 spread across a few ETFs. VTSAX FTW! $9,000 of this I had invested in 2019 and the rest was from 2020. $2,000 in an HSA. I should have contributed all the years I was eligible but only contributed the last one at my job when I had a high deductible plan. I wish I had a high deductible plan now because this is such a good place to invest. Checking account balance $800 in my main checking account $100 in a secondary checking account. Credit card debt (and how you accumulated it) none pay this off in full every month. Student loan debt (for what degree) None. My undergrad psych degree was paid for with the money I got from my dad’s social security payment when we passed away when I was 13. My PhD in Education was paid for through research assistantships and teaching assistantships (this is very typical of PhD programs. If you have to pay tuition, I suggest you do not attend that program). Anything else that's applicable to you Additional debt is my car. I have a $504 monthly car payment that will end in October. The interest rate is .99% so I don’t think it makes sense for me to pay this off any sooner. I purchased a used luxury car with very low mileage. Put 12K down and financed the rest over 4 years. I’ve had the car for almost 4 years and it still has less than 25K miles on it. I’m sure she will last me at least another 10 years. Section Two: Income Main Job Monthly Take Home: This is a difficult one to answer. Since I own my own business, I do not get a regular monthly or biweekly paycheck. Some clients I charge monthly per hour (where hours vary from month to month) and some clients pay by deliverable. In December 2020 I made $21,000, in November I made $1,100, and in October I made $26,000. This is all pretax as I am responsible for paying my own taxes. In the year 2020, I will have made about $180,000. Any Other Monthly Income Here Yes. I am a landlady and the property I own has 3 units. I house hack, meaning that I live in one unit and rent out the other 2 units for $6,450 (total). This covers my mortgage, property taxes, and other expenses (maintenance, the plumber, who I did have to call this week). I keep any income generated from rent in a separate account and do not use it for personal use. EXPENSES Yearly expenses Property Taxes: ~$17,000 a year. This is typically covered by what is leftover from monthly rent from my tenants. There are a few times where I’ve had to contribute to this from my own savings but have been lucky that my tenants have been able to pay rent this year.. Car registration: $322 Vespa registration: $70 (I think? I purchased this in 2020 and had to pay taxes on the purchase price to the DMV. This was rolled in with the registration) Vespa insurance: $592.76. This is a lot in my opinion and unfortunately could not be combined with my car and house insurance. Business expenses: In 2020, I spent $5,000 on my business. $500 is for business insurance. The other $4500 includes things like domain names, website hosting, squarespace account, etc. I also paid someone to help me with my website copy and marketing materials. I think this will stay the same or go up in 2021. I am thinking about ways to outsource some of what I do so I can bring in more clients and focus less time on social media, blogpost writing, and more time on the actual research. Ring yearly plan: $30 Monthly expenses *below are expenses associated with my house account that I do not pay for with the income listed above. Mortgage: $3,700 a month. This is covered and then some by the rent I receive from my tenants. Electricity: $50. This is for my apartment as well as the common area of my property Gas: $120 (this is for my apartment and another apartment I rent out). This is on the high end… california winter. In the summer it is closer to $30. Water: $140. This is for the whole property. *starting here are expenses that come out of my personal accounts Home & car insurance: $367 a month (this includes my car and my home since they are bundled). I also pay an additional $200 a year for umbrella insurance (I still don’t know exactly what this is, but it is apparently important to have). Health insurance: $484.07 a month. I purchase my own through Covered California. Savings: Because I do not get paid regularly and think of my savings across a whole year. I would like to save 20K a year in my self 401K. I am also saving up for a downpayment for a house and would like to save 60K in 2021. I try to save a bit for other investments like $500 here and there in ETFs, or if there is a particular stock I want to buy. Right now, however, I am prioritizing saving for a down payment. Debt payments: Just my mortgage and my car ($504 a month. This will be paid off in October 2021). Donations: $50 to Planned Parenthood monthly recurring donation. I also contribute to other organizations like wikimedia, Upward Bound House, my friend’s theatre group, and the LA Food Bank. Basically anything that pops up in my inbox. My donations for 2020 totalled $1,300. I do some volunteering with a local homeless group but this is only a few times a year. Now that I have a better idea of my income while self employed, I do plan on upping this to $2K in 2021. Wifi: $74.99 a month Cellphone: $0 for me, My mom and I are on a family plan and she pays for this. Subscriptions: LA times ($7.96). For entertainment, my friend and I split a lot of subscriptions. I pay for netflix ($12.99), spotify ($14.99), and sundance ($6.99 this is just temporary for 2 months for us to watch our favorite show Riviera), my friend pays for hulu and hbo. I use my mom’s amazon prime account. Gym membership; cancelled due to COVID. Not sure yet if I will restart this. Pet expenses: none Therapy: $150 a month. I have a virtual session every other week and pay out of pocket for this. At the end of each day please tally up your daily expenses. Then at the end of your diary please tally up all expenses in the following categories: Sunday 7:30am - I have a really hard time sleeping in even on the weekends 9:00am- my boyfriend is still in bed so I decide to try to get some work done for a client from bed. 10:15am- boyfriend still sleeping. Decide to take a shower. 11:30am- boyfriend finally wakes up! We have coffee, lounge a bit. 1:00pm- take my BF home. He lives about 5 miles from me. Really nice to get out of the house and take a drive. Wanted to drop something off at the UPS store and realized they are closed on Sundays! 2:30pm- finally make myself some breakfast. Yummy breakfast sandwich (an egg and a sausage on bread with mustard). Watch a bit of my show on HBO. Watching season 2 of My Brilliant Friend. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the books and am really digging the series. The characters look exactly how I imagine them from the book. 3:30pm- still nothing exciting happening. Took out the trash cans, vacuumed, wrote my schedule for the week on my white board in my office, did some work, browsed online a bit. 5:30pm- making breaded chicken fingers in the air fryer and sauteeing up some kale! Enough for lunch tomorrow. 7:00pm- watched Charade 9:00pm- in bed and scrolling through the trying for a baby subreddit. My BF and I have been TTC for a couple of months now. I know these things take time and I probably shouldn’t spend so much time on the internet googling my symptoms. Monday 6:20am- alarm set for 6:20. So far during the pandemic, I haven’t been setting an alarm and will wake up anytime between 6am and 7am naturally. I am naturally an early bird. Did a 40 minute yoga session from the app Downward Dog. I look at my checking account and see that I’ve received $430 from the government in stimulus money. I have been wanting to donate more this year so research organizations to give to. Donate $200 to Upward Bound House and $200 to the local theatre. Also make my own hemp milk in the blender for my matcha latte. 8:00am- start getting some work stuff together. Create invoices for 2 clients. I have a call with a potential client at 9:30 and need to brush up on what we spoke about last. In my field, a lot of organizations get funding through grant competitions. We are the finalists for one and they would like me to be one of the presenters! Eeek. Get an email that the yoga app I have been using is only $14.99 for the year so purchase that 8:40am time for my second matcha latte. 9:30am meeting with a client 9:50- meeting ended early. My best friend who is in another country right now wants to vid chat. We chat for about 10 minutes 10:15am- getting hungry! Heated up the chicken fingers from last night 11:00-12:30- run some errands. Get my Vespa looked at. It was acting weird a few months ago and now we can’t recreate the problem. Go to the postoffice to send my friend’s xmas gift. $11.04 12:30 continue working 4pm- heating up the last of my chicken fingers! Looks like i’m having a super early dinner today. 5pm- lost a little steam. Did a 10 minute ab workout. Loaded the dishwasher. On the computer now trying to do more work. 6:00-6:45pm- spent some time decluttering and listing items on Poshmark. I really am on a mission to declutter as much clothing as possible and only keep the things I love and feel confident in. I get a lot of things second hand from my mom so it is hard for me to part with stuff because I think of it as her stuff. But this past month I have really focused on figuring out my personal style and how I want to dress (thank you pinterest for helping me). 7-8pm did work for an hourly client 8pm- veg time and my eventual bedtime. Total= $426.03 Tuesday 6:20- read news, don’t get out of bed until 6:45. Empty the dishwasher. Do a 35 minute yoga session. Shower. 8:05- working! Some work for an hourly project. Our meeting is at 9am this morning. 11:30- meeting ended early! Going to make some lunch! Rice bowl with eggplant, kale, sausage and egg on top! My tenant reported that her kitchen sink is leaking so I called the plumber. 1:30- took the vespa to fedex to print documents ($1.08). Stopped by the gas station to fill up ($4.05). Came home, packed items, and walked to the post office to drop things off in the mailbox. 2:15pm- back at my desk to work. 4:30pm- just ended a meeting with my business partner. Hoped on a video call with my BF. He is coming over tomorrow. 5:30pm- start making dinner. Meatballs (with turmeric and chickpea flour!) rice, radish 6:30-7pm- hop on a call with my friend in singapore 7pm- I pull the trigger and purchase an 8 week coaching class with Melissa Le Man ($290). I have been following her on snapchat and her clients have great results! This might be categorized as lifestyle creep, but I’m at a point where I do not want to spend mental energy trying to decide what to eat or how to work out. Once I fill out her intake form and take before pictures she will email me an eating and workout plan within a week. Total- $295.13 Wednesday 6:10- wake up a bit before my alarm. Read the news. Go on Target to purchase dumbbells and food scale I need for my training. I opt for picking up items from two locations. 7:45am- take my “before” pictures to send to the trainer. I also finish filling out her intake questionnaire about my goals and lifestyle and eating habits. 9:20- have 10 minutes before my next meeting. What do I do?? Trying to be more consistent in writing blogposts.10 minutes of writing is better than 0 minutes! 10:50- finished a call and some emails. Time to eat! 11-12:30- went to target to pick up my order ($45.14) and went grocery shopping ($90.88). I go grocery shopping once a week and some weeks it is on the higher side (like this bill) and some on the lower. I know I’m going to get some hate for venturing out of my house but I honestly don’t want to rely on delivery anymore. It is so wasteful. Yes, I could have all these things delivered to me and not leave the house, but I would still be putting work on others. 12”50pm Did some laundry, changed my sheets. Start working from working from bed. I am exhausted today. Following the shit show of what is happening at the White House 2:30pm- the plumber is here. I wasn’t expecting him until tomorrow! Also on the phone with my BF about insurance. He is a contractor and decided to purchase his own health insurance. The day is going by so quickly and haven’t gotten as much done as I had hoped. It’s just been one of those days. 4:30pm- meeting ended early. Folding laundry, cleaned the bathroom. 5:00pm- back on computer to send a few emails. 5:30pm- start cooking dinner. BF on his way over. 9:00pm- pass out super early Total: $136.02 Thursday 6:30am- set my alarm for 7:30 but up at 6:30. Feel so much more rested than yesterday 8am- advisory board meeting 11am- meeting with a potential client 12pm- BF is making us a nice brunch! Omelettes with sausage and bread! 2pm- my BF got me a TV for xmas!!!!!!!!! Best Buy cancelled the TV that was supposed to be delivered so we go to Best Buy to pick it up (they come out to the car to deliver it). Then we go to Target (a different location from here I was earlier in the week) to pick up my second set of weights for my personal coaching ($47.07). 3:30pm get home, BF sets up TV, I go back to work 5:30 I am crazy hungry and pick up pizza for us. $54.71 (includes 20% tip). Fall asleep around 9:30pm Total: $101.78 Friday 6:30am - wake up again before my alarm. Do some emails, read the news 8:00am- Go on my Friday bike ride! This is about 10 miles total on a nice bike path from my house to the beach. Listen to You’re Wrong About podcast. The bike ride really helps me clear my head and am excited because not many people are out 9:05 am. Get back, shower. BF brings coffee. 10:05am meeting and NON STOP WORK UNTIL 5:30pm. It was a crazy busy day for me today with a last minute project that got added. Luckily we have leftover pizza for lunch! And the CSA box my friend gave me as an xmas gift arrived! Totally forgot this was coming or else I would’ve bought less veggies at the store. Freeze the spinach for my smoothies, and rinse, trim, and freeze the strawberries from the grocery store. 5:45pm- BF makes dinner! 7:30pm- in bed watching My Brilliant Friend on HBO. Finished season 2. I think I passed out at 9:30 or so. Saturday 6am- no alarm why am I up? Lounge in bed, go on youtube and snap chat. Do a 40 minute yoga session on Downward Dog app. Eat some leftover pizza. 10am- have a call with a family friend. I am actually hoping I can hire her to help me with some of my work. 11:15am- have a call with my business partner for a grant that we are helping a client put together 12:00pm- pop in some laundry then my BF and I head in the car to pick up sandwiches from a place that he loves. Hot pastrami sandwich for me. He pays. We eat the sandwiches on the curb outside by the parked car. 2:00pm get home, chill for the rest of the day and evening. Fold laundry, vacuum, watch Wonder Boys, watch a lot of youtube, basically enjoying the TV and I pass out at 9pm. Totals Food + Drink- $145.62 Fun / Entertainment- $0 Home + Health- $392.20 Clothes + Beauty = $0 Transport = $4.05 Other: $412.12 Total: $953.99 Lastly, reflect on your diary! This was not a typical week for me in terms of spending since I did make donations and paid for private coaching and workout equipment. I was pretty drained and exhausted this week. I didn’t really take a break from working over the holidays and I think it is finally catching up to me. I also ventured out of my house more in the past week than I have in the last few weeks combined. It was really nice to feel like I was actually doing something and not just suck at home. I also ate way more meat this week than I usually do.

2.Today I signed a proclamation declaring January 28, 2021 as “Hunger Free Day” in Kentucky. Hunger is something that has been around for far far too long, but in a modern world, and in a state where we grow so much food, it's something that we ought to be able to finally solve. Too many of our Kentucky kids and Kentucky families don't know where their next meal is coming from. <...> I was also excited to announce a donation from the Beshear-Coleman Inaugural Fund of about $16,000 to Feeding Kentucky.
Vaccine:So today, we're announcing four new regional vaccination sites, and the first site as one of these four, operated by Kroger. The three sites that you will see in just a little bit when we unveil our http://vaccine.ky.gov website are two in Western Kentucky we'll show you those in a minute, Lourdes and Baptists in Paducah, as well as Ephraim McDowell .
As of today, all vaccination sites are asked to prioritize the 70 and older population, until further notice. Other persons from phase 1A and 1B remain eligible for vaccination. As vaccine quantities and available appointment times allow, persons in 1C may also be scheduled to ensure each site administers 90% or more of all their vaccine doses received in seven days.
Today we're also unveiling a new state website, http://vaccine.ky.gov, and a hotline, 855-598-2246 also 855-326-4654 (TTY), that helps Kentuckians determine if they're eligible to receive a vaccine, and then it helps them find the vaccine in their region. The “Find a Vaccine” website and hotline will both be live after this news conference.
Pheli Roberts/Kroger: <...> So, super excited about what we're able to offer, and just want to remind and engage all of our eligible phase 1A and 1B Kentuckians to visit our http://kroger.com/COVIDVaccine website to schedule, or call 1-866-211-5320.
There is a new program available that was put into place under the Continuing Assistance Act that was signed into law at the end of last year. It's called the Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation Program. If you have regular W2 wages but also work some on the side and on a contract basis, then you may be eligible for this program.
I'm still getting a lot of questions about 1099. We know a little over 600,000 of those were mailed out over the last few weeks and there is also a new FAQ on the website to help you with questions about that. [...] Now, if you believe that you got a 1099 and that you did not actually draw benefits, either because your business, the place where you work, filed a mass claim and you never actually claimed benefits, or because of some kind of identity theft or fraud, you can email we discussed on Monday, the [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) email.
Are there any specific plans or maybe public transit services being recruited in making sure that Kentuckians who don't have access to a car, or aren't able to drive to the regional sites, that they do still have the opportunity to get vaccinated? -- Yes, this is when we talk about thinking big, and thinking small, there's this regional program that can get a lot of people through, and and I hope that family members will reach out and solve some of those transportation issues, but then there's our local health department, some of our hospitals that are embedded in each community, understand where folks are, that struggle with transportation needs, understanding that the equity needs in getting this vaccine out. They're going to play an absolutely essential role in getting that done.
Dr Stack, in his comments, mentioned about the possibility of once vaccinated you can still spread the disease. So after your initial shot and a booster should that person anticipate wearing a mask, say, into the fall? -- Right now we believe that vaccines protect you from getting sick and protect you from getting very sick with that 95% effectiveness. There isn't data at the moment on the transmissibility. And so we have to believe that you can transmit it, until we have the data showing that you don't.
Good afternoon everybody. Good afternoon Virginia. This is that time we come together, and the last time we'll come together this week, to remember that we will get through this, and we will get through this together. There is a big, bright light that will be the end of this pandemic. We’ve got to be careful, protect one another as we move towards it. But today, you're going to hear a lot more about our plan to make sure that we answer that critical anxiety of individuals of “when it's my time, where do I go to get my vaccine?”, and that we are also putting the infrastructure in place to where when we have, we pray for this, significantly more vaccine supply that comes that we can get it out pretty quickly.
Let's start with some good news. Today, I'm happy to announce a new project from a homegrown Kentucky company that’s creating 200 new jobs in the Bowling Green area and helping to create a better Kentucky for our residents. Material Handling Systems got its start right here in the Commonwealth, more than 20 years ago. Since its founding in 1999, the Mount Washington-based business has grown from a small one-room operation to a global company that employs more than 2,000 people, including more than 500 Kentuckians, and it helps distribute products all over the world. The $7.6M investment to locate in a 181,000 square foot facility in Warren County's Kentucky TransPark will support the global headquarters in Mount Washington with steel structures for conveyor, and sortation systems. This project is just the latest reminder that Kentucky is home to successful businesses that got their start right here in the Commonwealth. We talk a lot about businesses that we attract to Kentucky, but most of our jobs are created by Kentucky businesses that grow and thrive. MHS is among the nearly 60 material handling equipment manufacturers located in Kentucky that employ over 3,200 of our Kentucky families. A key part of this project is MHS is important to our distribution and logistics industry, which consists of more than 580 facilities, and nearly 78,000 employees. MHS supports major logistics companies in our state like UPS and FedEx Ground, that's just another reason this is a great project for Kentucky as we continue to build ourselves into the logistics capital, certainly, of this country. Thank you to the leadership and Material Handling Systems for selecting Kentucky for this next great expansion, and to everyone at the state and local level that helped make it happen, thank you. Our Kentucky families thank you. This new MHS location is a great addition to the Bowling Green business community, and to Kentucky, and I look forward to helping you make that next great expansion. With every one of our great Kentucky companies that adds jobs and expands, the first thing we tell them is: feel free to do more. And that's what we'll try to continue to foster.
Second, today I signed a proclamation declaring January 28, 2021 as “Hunger Free Day” in Kentucky. Hunger is something that has been around for far far too long, but in a modern world, and in a state where we grow so much food, it's something that we ought to be able to finally solve. Too many of our Kentucky kids and Kentucky families don't know where their next meal is coming from. I hope, as we come out of COVID, where we have taken care of each other in ways that we've never seen in our lifetimes, that this can be one of those other crises that has been around that we can truly start to address. I was also excited to announce a donation from the Beshear-Coleman Inaugural Fund of about $16,000 to Feeding Kentucky. I couldn't think of a better use of dollars from that time of celebration to help people through this time of need. The work of those and Feeding Kentucky has been nothing short of heroic during COVID, and we have been honored to have our National Guards- men and women working in their facilities to ensure they have the necessary personnel to give food to those that are in need. Their efforts deserve our full support. Thank you to Feeding Kentucky, to all of our food pantries, and to everybody out there who helped someone find that next meal.
Alright, today's COVID report. Good news, and tough news, and it seems like it's the trend we're seeing every day. Let's start with the good news.
Positive cases today: 2,947 - Doesn't sound like good news, and it's far too high, but this is the lowest Thursday we've had in four weeks.
Total tests conducted: 3,985,343 (PCR: 3,560,903, Serology: 107,732)
Positivity Rate: 9.04% - Our current positivity rate is 9.04% the fourth straight day under 10% and I believe we've had almost a week if not more of that number going down and down. Folks, our trends are going in the right way, and that's a good thing and it's because of your work, wearing a mask, social distancing, cutting down on your contacts, thank you for that.
Our numbers of Kentuckians hospitalized currently in the ICU, and currently on a ventilator are all down compared to yesterday.
Total hospitalized: 16,404
Currently hospitalized: 1,561
Total in ICU: 3,520
Currently in ICU: 370
On a ventilator: 205
Total recovered: 42,684
New deaths today: 69 - But the result of so many cases, and of our exponential growth, and times when we were having 5,000 cases in a day, is we're seeing significant loss that that creates. Today is our highest day of announced deaths with 69 new deaths we're announcing in Kentucky to bring our total lost to 3,611.
Total Deaths: 3,611
New deaths by county: 93 F Anderson, 90 F Bath, 92 M Bath, 91 F Boyd, 76 F Boyle, 77 F Boyle, 79 M Boyle, 90 F Casey, 72 M Daviess, 80 M Daviess, 87 M Daviess, 91 M Daviess, 91 M Edmonson, 57 M Fayette, 80 M Fayette, 101 F Fleming, 73 M Fleming, 79 M Graves, 81 F Hardin, 83 F Hardin, 83 F Hardin, 53 M Hardin, 69 M Hardin, 73 M Hardin, 89 M Hardin, 61 F Harlan, 77 F Harlan, 77 M Hart, 83 F Henderson, 88 M Henry, 83 M Jackson, 75 F Jefferson, 81 F Jefferson, 85 F Jefferson, 62 M Jefferson, 74 M Jefferson, 77 M Jefferson, 86 M Jefferson, 88 M Jefferson, 90 M Jefferson, 94 M Jefferson, 83 F Knox, 92 F Lincoln, 77 F McCracken, 80 F McCracken, 67 M McCracken, 80 F Madison, 72 M Marshall, 80 F Mercer, 95 F Mercer, 83 F Oldham, 71 M Oldham, 87 M Oldham, 71 F Perry, 59 M Pike, 64 M Pulaski, 80 F Rowan, 84 F Shelby, 74 M Shelby, 77 M Taylor, 72 F Todd, 74 F Warren, 69 F Washington, 83 F Washington, 94 F Washington, 41 M Washington, 63 M Wayne, 89 F Webster, 71 M Webster
Now, not all of these deaths are from the last couple weeks. We have the committee that meets to ensure that each individual that we list as a loss that COVID was a real contributing factor. And some of that made that list larger, but these are all people we've lost, at least in part because of COVID. So let's remember how dangerous it is, even if our cases are headed, our trends are headed, in the right direction.
Racial breakdown of all cases: 85% White, 8.5% Black, 5% Multiracial, 1.2% Asian, 0.2% American Indian, 0.1% Pacific Islander
Ethnicity breakdown of all cases: 94.2% Non-Hispanic, 5.8% Hispanic
Racial breakdown of all deaths: 87.6% White, 8.9% Black, 2.7% Multiracial, 0.6% Asian, 0.1% American Indian
Ethnicity breakdown of all deaths: 98.1% Non-Hispanic, 1.9% Hispanic
Today's memorial is a man we lost again, a state employee who's my age. Today we honor another one of our own on Team Kentucky, as we share the story of Jonathan Alexander, a team member of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Office of Information Technology. He was 43, far too young to be taken from us. He passed away on January 23rd at the University of Kentucky Hospital after complications from surgery and COVID-19. Jonathan was known by all for his kindness. He always went out of the way to help those in need, not only in his personal life but through his work. An example of this was through organizing the “Big Tip Challenge”, a fundraiser for restaurant workers whose jobs had been impacted by the COVID pandemic. He also organized the annual Salvation Army's Angel Tree Drive for OIT, making sure every Kentucky family had something under the tree at Christmas. Jonathan always said if you're fortunate enough to be able to help somebody-- do it, it's an amazing experience. Jonathan's passing is such a loss for Kentucky. I hope we can learn from his words and do right by our people. Our prayers are with Jonathan's mother, Brenda Whitaker, his brother, Jason, and his many great friends, and co-workers. We're also thinking of his beloved dogs who are family to him. That's Reesy, Roxy, Riley, Rosie, and Rowdy. This is one of ours that works with us here in state government. We mourn his passing. We think about, and pray for, his family which I know is grieving. I think about his work family around him that feels this loss. And we know we've got to continue to mask up to protect one another, to make sure other families don't have to feel this loss and go through what Jason's family has gone through. So let's mask up in honor of him, let’s light our homes up green, so his family and friends know they're not alone, and we're holding them close in prayer. 43. To think we have through the course of this had at different times people try to argue that this only impacts our seniors-- 43...
Alright. Let's move to the exciting news. So today, we have some very exciting news about how we're building out the infrastructure here in Kentucky to efficiently vaccinate our people, so that everybody knows where the place, when it's their turn, that they should go to get vaccinated is. Today, we'll be announcing some new regional facilities. Next Thursday, we'll be announcing more, and the Thursday after that, we will have some additional. So we will have announcements today, and each Thursday of the next two weeks, as we build out this infrastructure so that everybody has a high speed throughput vaccination operation in their region, and they know exactly when it's their time, where they can go.
So today, we're announcing four new regional vaccination sites, and the first site as one of these four, operated by Kroger. The three sites that you will see in just a little bit when we unveil our http://vaccine.ky.gov website are two in Western Kentucky we'll show you those in a minute, Lourdes and Baptists in Paducah, as well as Ephraim McDowell.
But our first Kroger site will be operated at the Kentucky Horse park, and it's going to begin February 2 at 10am. It's going to be done in the Alltech Arena site which is in-person indoors, but we're going to look at expanding to drive-thru as the weather warms and supply increases. Signups for this site, again, at 5pm today. You can see http://kroger.com/COVIDVaccine is the website to go to. It's going to schedule out for the next three weeks, one week at a time. They're going to be 3,000 appointments in week one. Each day it's going to open for, after today, for that one next day a week ahead of time. Now this is important, these appointments, which are currently limited due to supplies are for Kentuckians in phase 1B, particularly those 70 and older. There should be 3000 appointments at the horse park and others across the state, aimed at getting our Seniors 70 and up vaccinated. So, today at five o'clock, please know 70 and up you ought to be getting on this. If you don't fall into that category or 1A we need you to wait, we'll be able to expand soon. And we've already told all of our regional providers that if they have extra doses, they can and should reach into 1C, to make sure absolutely nothing goes to waste.
So, we're pretty excited. Next week, we got four new regional vaccination sites coming online and our first Kroger site. Again, these are for 70 and up, at least for the next several weeks. But here's the other exciting part. Dr Stack and Secretary Gray will offer more details in a minute but I want to first share a video that walks through what Kentuckians can expect when they get on this website. How it's going to show them when they're eligible, and where they should sign up to get their back and let's show the video.
<VIDEO PLAYS IN BACKGROUND> You've probably heard a lot about the new COVID-19 vaccine in Kentucky. If you think you're currently eligible for the vaccine, you can use Kentucky's online screening tool to check your status and find vaccination sites near you. As vaccine supply is limited, Kentucky is following a phased distribution system of eligible groups. The Commonwealth is committed to making the vaccine available to all willing Kentuckians as quickly and as efficiently as vaccine supply allows. Meet John. John is 72 years old and believes he's eligible for the vaccine. John heads to the Find a Vaccine website to begin the quick and simple screening survey. The Find a Vaccine website is powered by Google Translate and the website is available for translation. This will take just a few minutes.
John clicks, “Get Started” to begin.
After answering a few quick questions, John sees he is eligible for the vaccine.
By entering basic information, Jon can select a location on the map to see different locations in his community where he can schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment and get his “Shot of Hope.”
Now John wants to see if his granddaughter Sarah, a college student, is also eligible.
John clicks, “start over” to start the survey again.
The screening survey asks some quick demographic questions to determine Sarah's eligibility status, such as age, occupation, and whether she has certain health issues that put her at high risk if she gets COVID-19. Any basic information entered in the Find a Vaccine website is secure.
Once John answers all the questions, John learns that Sarah is included in phase 3 of Kentucky's vaccine distribution plan, and is not currently eligible for the vaccine.
In the meantime, John can sign Sarah up to receive an automatic email or text message notification when her eligibility status changes. Signing up for notifications is fast, secure, and only requires your name, county of residence, and email address or mobile phone number.
