NCEES Exam Update - Oct cancelled in CA, rescheduled to Las Vegas

Recent changes to capacity limits for groups and events made by the state of California have impacted our ability to administer pencil-and-paper examinations throughout the state. Due to these changes, NCEES is no longer able to administer examinations in California on October 22 and 23 as planned.
An alternate exam site location has been secured at The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, for examinees who registered to test in Pomona and San Diego. While we recognize this is not ideal, it does allow us to provide an out-of-state exam site within relatively close proximity to the original site location. Space is limited and examinees remain subject to cancellation based on the reduction in capacity as noted during the exam registration process. If you are concerned about the risk of cancellation or unable to travel to Las Vegas, you may cancel your exam by 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, August 28, and receive a full refund of your exam registration fee. To cancel, send an email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or send a message through your MyNCEES account. Cancellation requests received after the deadline are not refundable. As a reminder, PE Civil examinees have the option to test in Pomona during the regional PE Civil exam administration scheduled for January 26, 2021.
We understand you are likely frustrated by the challenges associated with testing during the pandemic. We share your frustrations and are doing all we can to provide as many testing opportunities as possible while still maintaining compliance with varying local and state restrictions throughout the country. Please review the below information if you have questions. If you need to contact us, please send a message through your MyNCEES account.
NCEES Exam Administration Services
Things to note for the Las Vegas/Hotel Orleans exam site Examinees at the Las Vegas/Hotel Orleans site will receive a free boxed lunch on exam day. Although the hotel is unable to accommodate special dietary requests, a variety of options (including vegetarian) will be provided. Additional options will be available for purchase on-site.
Examinees are eligible for discounted room rates ranging from $30-69 per night at The Orleans Hotel and Casino. To make a reservation, visit www.OrleansCasino.com/groups and use group code ANCXC10 or call 800-675-3267 on or before September 21, 2020, to ensure availability and group rate. Examinees are encouraged to make their reservations online to avoid long hold times.
When will I know if NCEES cancels my exam registration due to capacity restrictions? NCEES will review capacity at the Las Vegas/Hotel Orleans exam site after processing cancellation requests that are received before 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, August 28. If cancellations are necessary, impacted examinees will be notified via email and receive a full refund of their exam registration fee no later than September 10.
How will NCEES determine which examinees are canceled? Canceling an examinee’s registration due to capacity issues is not simple and something we hope to avoid. When cancellations are necessary, factors based on the specific circumstances of the site will be taken into consideration and every effort will be made to be as fair and consistent as possible.
Why are examinees given such a short timeframe to make a cancellation decision? Preparing to administer a pencil-and-paper exam requires a great deal of time and preparation. Our printing and shipping vendors have hard deadlines we must meet in order to make sure all materials are accurate and delivered to exam sites in a timely manner. We simply don’t have the flexibility to accommodate changes beyond the deadline.

Ughh, I don't even know what I want to do at this point!!

Man Detained in Ongoing Child Porn Case Because of Alleged Plot to Assassinate Joe Biden

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 64%. (I'm a bot)
The judge's reasoning? Authorities said the defendant plotted to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Investigators described Treisman multiple times discuss committing a mass shooting, in one instance allegedly saying was "Going to do a columbine for a while []." Also, video allegedly from the defendant's phone purportedly showed him driving by the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, where a gunman killed 58 people and injured about 500 more on October 1, 2017.
Treisman allegedly had also downloaded footage of the Christchurch, New Zealand mosque shooting on March 21, 2020, and performed internet searches in connection to that.
An April 8, 2020 internet post attributed to the defendant stated he was "Going to do a columbine for a while, [but] I think it would better to put it towards something more memorable." Seven days later, he allegedly posted a meme featuring the caption "Should I kill joe biden?" He allegedly looked up Biden's home address, purchasing an AR-15 in New Hampshire, going to a Wendy's within four miles of Biden's home, and writing a checklist ending with "Execute."
Treisman allegedly wrote on Reddit that he had to "Save bernie," several days after Sen. Bernie Sanders suspended his campaign for president, according to The Washington Post.
In the filing, a defense lawyer was said to have mentioned that Treisman was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome at age 12, but the defendant allegedly denied in a May 29, 2020 interview with law enforcement that he had mental health conditions.

Hey everyone!

[Meet Report] 2012 IPL World Powerlifting Championship

On Friday, November 9th I competed in the International Powerlifting League World Championship meet at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Weigh-ins went on Thursday, November 8 at 9 a.m. and lifting began the following morning at the same time. (24 hour weigh-in hell yeah.) Now for the details.
Training:
My last powerlifting meet was in January and since then I had the idea in mind to do another meet in the fall of this year. However it wasn't until August or September that I decided on the IPL Worlds. Between January and this week my programming was mostly of my own design. The exception is my 5/3/1 mod with periodized accessory work, no deadlifts, and added squat work. Other than the two or three cycles I did of that everything was of my own design.
My programming is built primarily around a structure resembling 5/3/1, just with much higher percentages, lower reps for primary movements always working up to three heavy singles then backing off to a prescribed percentage as my 1st tier accessory exercise. This 1st tier of accessory work would be higher in volume and lower intensity in the beginning of the cycle and vice versa at the end. After the 1st tier accessory work I would go to 2nd tier; and if I had energy 3rd tier.
I could write an e-book on my training methodology so I'll end it here. If there is interest, I'll consider going more in depth about my training. It is however, my opinion, that what works well for one wont always create the same results for another. So really, how I train doesn't really matter (at least in my perspective). If any of you have questions about it and want a more detailed description just ask.
Dieting (AKA, The Cut of all Cuts)
Back in late July and early August I was in the mid to low 170s. For this meet I had to diet down to around 160. I accomplished this by cutting carbs to around 100g per day on most days of the week with one cheat day or so per week. Once September rolled around I just made sure to eat less food over all and still keep an eye on my carbs. My mantra for this stage of the game is, "Always be hungry." If I was hungry for the majority of the day, I was doing it right. October 29th rolled around and I was around 160 and I had to kick my ass into gear.
I did this by limiting my carbs to less than 50g per day every day until weigh-ins. As the day came nearer my carb consumption continued to lower. The Monday before weigh-ins I consumed 2g of carbs.
Water Cut
I followed NoMediocrity's methods detailed here. Except I went against his advice of doing a carb and sodium load on the Friday prior to weigh-ins and just did a sodium load. (Sorry bro, I was carb phobic and was no shit afraid to eat them). This worked wonders and is very similar to the methods I used to make weight for my last meet. Sodium and water loading is the way to go.
I didn't even have to hot bath, steam room, or sauna suit it... although I tried and ended up shorting out the lights in my hotel bathroom. Yeah, that was fun. Ended up making weight at a whopping 146.6 pounds. Here is me, the night before weigh-ins, feeling like shit, but very lean and dehydrated. This is the leanest I've been, ever, and I estimate it to be around 7-8%.
Now for what you all care about.
The Meet
I'll just get to the gist of this.
Squat 1: 375
Squat 2: 397
Squat 3: 407
Bench 1: 248
Bench 2: 264
Bench 3: 275
Deadlift 1: 451
Deadlift 2: 485
Deadlift 3: 512
Deadlift 4: 529 (4th attempt allowed for World Record Attempts)
I went 10/10 on all my lifts. Broke the California Mens Open deadlift record and total record. My Powerlifting total is 1,196 pounds counting only 3rd attempts, and with my 4th deadlift it is 1,211 pounds. The 529 pound deadlift is a new IPL World Record.
TLDR: Video of all my lifts
Overall, I'm very happy (to say the least) with my performance. I have nothing but the greatest things to say about the community of lifters who were there and the meet organizers. The USPA President, Steve Denison is a total professional and really knows how to get something awesome together. If you're considering competing... do it. Even if you wont put up record breaking lifts, the experience in itself is worth of showing up. Also, shout out to failon and his brother for coming out there and meeting up with me. He's a fucking monster of a man and has a 10 lb brain when it comes to all things lifting and kinesiology.
Now get out there and lift.
EDIT: After some discussion with MinimumROM I've decided that sometime this week I will be posting an entry about my training methodology. Keep an eye out for that. I hope it helps the subscribers of this fucking awesome subreddit.

Fittit, it is Sunday. Tell us your Victory this week

It is Sunday, 8:30am in at the Golden Nugget Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's time to put down the barbell, get out of the pool, sit next to the sideline -- and ask yourself: what was the one best thing you did on behalf of your fitness this week? What was your Fitness Victory? We want to hear about it!
Did you finally hit a bodyweight squat? Did you set your diet in order? Did you fall off an 800 foot train-bridge after being shot by a MI5 sniper -- and survive? We want to hear about it!
Here are last week's Top five fitness Victories:
The "You're Awesome" Spotlight.
If you read last week's thread, the number of awesome-qualifying Victories is astounding. I don't know what happened -- was there something in the water? Did encroaching mortality strike fear into hearts which would otherwise be curled up under the early morning sheets, rather than up and out at the gym? This week, the spotlight is going to hit a number of players -- I don't care, I make the rules for the spotlight -- including:a major salute to iBS_PartyDoc, cunty_mcunt, and KomradeKettlebell who didn't even show up in the thread all because they went out and worked out during the whole Sandy debacle in the American Northeast; iBS -- food-deprived and hungover, hit a 315x3 deadlift; cunty_mcunt worked out in the dark. Fitness is even more important in trying times, and these people have dedication. We had Strikerrjones, who did a set of deadlifts with 475 lbs for 5 reps, which is tremendously awesome. zipl3r did a bodyweight overhead press, at 85kg (187lbs) -- which is awesome 52 weeks a year. TheAesir did farmers walks holding 265lbs, 355lb paused squats (set of 5), and 435lb deadlift for THREE count 'em THREE reps, and a bunch more. And LankosaurousRex had an awesome second weightlifting meet ever. And I don't even know what to say about 70 consecutive pistol squats (35 on each leg) that CaptainSarcasmo did -- not to mention the fact that all y'all are screwed in the BTFC since he's going to take it. All these fittiters showed awesomeness. It was perhaps the most awesome week I've ever seen in the Victory thread: iBS_PartyDoc, cunty_mcunt, KomradeKettlebell, Strikerrjones, zipl3r, TheAesir, LankosaurousRex and CaptainSarcasmo -- You're Awesome!
The "You're Awesome" spotlight is an occasional feature of Victory Sundays, wherein I select a deserving recipient to receive the eponymous adulation, in celebration of their previous Sunday's Victory. If you want to nominate someone for the "You're Awesome" spotlight, simply respond to their post with "You're Awesome!"
And now it's your turn. Let's hear your fitness Victory this week! Don't forget to upvote your favorite Victories!
The Victory Sunday thread is posted Sundays before 12pm Eastern Time. If you would like to guest-host a Victory Sunday thread in the future, contact menuitem to agree to the guidelines, and reserve a future date.

Did I get angle-shot?

This happened at Binion's casino in Las Vegas Nevada. 200 dollar tournament (my entire roll) and I'm sitting on a 15 BB stack. The action is as follows:
Hero: raise 3x from UTG position with 2s3s
Table folds around and button calls
Flop comes AhKhQh
I see that I have have backdoor wheel draw so I continue for half pot, villain calls
Turn is an 8h
Hero checks
Villain looks over, shifty as fuck, asks me if I "wanna play a big pot or a small part"
Villain is way out of line, table agrees so I call the floor
The tournament director decides in favor of the villain (yikes)
At this point I regret just not folding pre but I made my bed so now I'll sleep in it.
Turn goes check check
River is a jack of hearts
Hero checks and villain puts me all in for my tournament life which is basically my actual life since my entire bank roll is on the table. I tank for roughly 6 minutes (which is completely reasonable in this spot) and villain calls the clock (consider unethical by many). I berate him for the initial 50 seconds of my 1 minute time and window.
Hero remembers a Jamie Gold (world champ of poker) hand where he talked a player into folding pre. I start talking to my opponent. I tell him I don't think he has a heart, and snap call.
Villain slyly looks over at me. "You forgot one thing kid" he says
At this point I'm sure that I'm free rolling
"I'm Doyle fucking Brunson"
Villain turns over 10h2c
So was I angle shot? Am I the asshole? Positive comments only plZ

Blair released the June newsletter and it came with an interesting test that may spark some questions

1) Of the dozen or so spoof Tool CDs included in the spurious catalog in the insert contained in the import (i.e. European) version of Aenima, one of them is actually real (meaning that it at least includes jam sessions by the band and various other recorded material). Though having never been released to the general public, about 30 copies were surreptitiously placed in various record stores in European cities (most of them in Poland) by members of the band and their crew during a tour over there. TRUE OR FALSE? 2) Coincidently, the first winner of the golden ticket “Seal of Xatanitos” contained in the 21st anniversary edition of “OPIATE” was a woman named “Goldie.” TRUE OR FALSE? 3) Danny used the alias of “Barry McCockener” when registering at hotels during tours, while Justin opted for, “Will McFinngerdo.” TRUE OR FALSE? 4) One of the songs planned for the band’s next album (when ever that might be) is a sequel to a song on a previous Tool album. (Hint, this song involves the concept of a transhuman.) TRUE OR FALSE? 5) In the Tool song entitled “Mantra”, Maynard gently coaxed sounds out of one of his pet cats, which were recorded, and then electronically processed to create an eerie droning effect. TRUE OR FALSE? 6) A song on the next Tool record will be called “Toynbee Tyler.” The “y” in the word “Tyler” not being a typo, as the song hints at the guardian of speculative Freemasonry, and the “resurrection of the living” as opposed to the dead, which are mentioned on the original “Toynbee Tiles.” TRUE OR FALSE? 7) Regarding Danny’s other band, “VOLTO!”, the cover art for their debut album, “Incitare” (by psychedelic artist Rick Griffin) was originally intended to be used on an album cover by the band “Steppenwolf.” TRUE OR FALSE? 8) The main riff in Tool’s ultimate hidden track entitled “PROBLEM 8: THE RIEMANN HYPOTHESIS” was played repeatedly (and rather mischievously) by Adam during the sound checks attended by unsuspecting ‘meet and greet’ guests during the recent Australian and New Zealand tour. TRUE OR FALSE? 9) One of Danny’s favorite singer-songwriters is Joni Mitchell. TRUE OR FALSE?10) For the “LATERALUS” tour, two band members wanted to have an orchestra perform with them on the songs, “LATERALUS”, “DISPOSITION”, “REFLECTION”, “TRIAD”, and “PUSHIT.” TRUE OR FALSE? 11) Justin first heard a recording of Jimi Hendrix – now one of his favorite musicians – while in BMB’s hotel room at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. TRUE OR FALSE? 12) Maynard once subdued an overly enthusiastic fan on stage by placing the person in a martial arts type chokehold – all the while continuing to sing the song until members of security handled the situation. TRUE OR FALSE? 13) Adam doesn’t move around much on stage because he has an artificial hip. TRUE OR FALSE? 14) Danny is currently a member of a modern day “HellFire Club” that at times play midnight rounds of golf with flaming balls and the using of high tech night vision goggles instead of seeing with the older secret magical formula known as ‘drops of cat’s eyes.’ TRUE OR FALSE? 15) Tool both signed with their first manager and inked their first record deal (at different times) while performing at the “Coconut Teaszer” club in Los Angeles. TRUE OR FALSE? 16) Donning a mullet wig and the appropriate attire, Maynard once pretended to be a stage technician frantically trying to fix a problem with some equipment seconds before Tool took the stage. As the band began playing “Hooker With A Penis”, Maynard quickly stripped from his convincing disguise while doing the vocals. TRUE OR FALSE? 17) The Knights Templar artifact that Danny had melted down as part of his bronze Paiste/Jeff Ocheltree Custom Craft drum kit was found at Montsegur in the South of France on March 16 in 1998. TRUE OR FALSE? 18) With regards to one of Maynard’s other bands, the term “A PERFECT CIRCLE” comes from a book written by John Michell. TRUE OR FALSE? 19) On their next record, the band will include a cover called “From A Dry Camel” by prog-metal pioneers “DUST” from their eponymously titled debut album in 1971. The Tool version will retain the same heavy echo-plex vocals, powerful bass lines, wah-wah pedal guitar lead, and a (very) loud gong intro! TRUE OR FALSE? 20) Upon recently learning that “Chili John’s” in Burbank was closed for the summer, Danny had a gallon of chili overnight FED-XED from “Ben’s Chili Bowl” in Washington D.C. so that his mates could have it for lunch during the next day’s writing session. TRUE OR FALSE? 21) During one of Tool’s tours in America, after the performance had ended and the house lights were turned on – they were then turned off again, with the colorful stage lightning turned on. Moments later, after almost – but not all – of the concert goers had left the venue, Danny played “Faaip de Oiad” as a LIVE hidden track that was filmed to be released on a possible future DVD release. TRUE OR FALSE? 22) On the recent Australian tour, Tool lighting director Mark ‘Junior’ Jacobson wrote with a Sharpie the name of one of the new Tool songs (mentioned already in this test?) on some of the golden (not red) squares of confetti that was shot from canons into the audience. TRUE OR FALSE? 23) Danny chose the original release date of JULY 23 for Volto’s “INCITARE” to coincide with the helical rising of the star Sirius (also the beginning of the “Dog Days” of summer). The Reddit Grand Prix is set for Oct. 17th, support your fellow Redditors for their MMA debut.

Hello /MMA,
A few months ago I made a thread asking if anyone here would be interested in an event where members of Reddit could volunteer to fight and match up with each other based on size and experience and the response I got was huge.
Las Vegas based Amateur MMA promotion, TUFF-N-UFF volunteered to host the event as they've hosted similar events known as the Underground Grand Prix (UGGP) for MMA sites Mixedmartialarts.com, Sherdog and Bullshido.
Last week we held the UGGP 2014 and it was a huge success and the members here at /MMA who signed up to fight are eager to go out there and outshine the amazing UGGP event.
Once we got the date figured out with the promotion, TUFF-N-UFF, and all the dust settled we ended up with a few matchups that we hope you will enjoy.
Keep in mind the card is subject to change and we may add or remove a fight or two in case of injury or other circumstances.
The event itself will be on October 17th at The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada hosted by TUFF-N-UFF. We are working on getting a live stream and tickets will be 25 dollars or 30 dollars at the door. You can also go to cagetix.com and purchase tickets and put in your favorite fighters name to earn him $5.00 per ticket to help with travel costs.
Enough from me though, here is the card.
Match ups.
